Yoke..... the insurance company is actually at liberty to declare total loss, if they feel that the repairs of the car will actually cost more than the curent insured/market value... but the policy must be covered for Flood losses i.e when the policy was taken, there would be an option to take up coverage for flood at extra loading charges on the premium... a normal comprehensive policy does not cover any 'act of god' including flood, unless specific coverage is taken...
