Not done yet. Dunno who's E36 it is. Last time I did my E30 converted to RB20 no issue. He's a bit of a RB, 1/2J conversion expert.

1J VVTI. Latest engine fr Jap. 1J is 2.5 L. 2J is 3 L. If you look at the engine cover above its 2500.

Are this engine build in turbo ?

If i'm not mistaken both 1JZ and 2JZ have turbo and NA variation depending on what car it comes from. The 2JZ most of the time comes from the supra half-cut and is usually turbocharged. The 1JZ can come from supra as well but also from the soarer, mk I, mk II and so on. I have seen a 1JZ half-cut that came NA. Not sure what body. Not so good with toyota.

whoa, now that is what I call a conversioN! :top: no doubt the german heart has been ripped out but then you now get ze best of both worlds, no? german body with japanese heart...:bandit:...

hi.
do u mind asking the mech what is the cost involved for a 1jz or 2jz conversion - auto is fine but manual better.
thanks

The workshop is located around Jalan 222. As you come from the Federal Hwy on to 222, keep going straight until you see the 'mini' roundabout. Keep going straight (12 o'clock), pass the mosque and mamak 'shack' on the right. Follow the road left around the playground and keep going straight until T-junction. Turn left and immediately turn right. There's a row of workshops and he's is the 3rd or 4th one. Probably won't miss it as there are all sorts of stuff being converted to 1J, 2J or RB.

Workshop is called Lai Fatt. Look for Ah Loy. Cost probably not the cheapest in town, better you talk to him directly. All I can say is that there are many cars which were transplanted in other workshops which were sent to him to settle the wiring when the other guys cannot complete the job. He appeared on NST's Cars Bikes and Trucks some time back also. For engine transplants he's the man.... nice guy too.

PM me if you need his number.

sounds good. wanna do some alteration on my merc with rb20 engine. previous mech f****d it up.... the whole car vibrates like hell when speed reached 100kmh.

jonniez, i find the toyota engines much nicer. The 1J with VVTI would be ideal. More fuel economical and smoother than the RB's.

Have PM all that requested for the number.

thanks bro seech..... what to do bought da half cut oredi. so have to finish da project lor....

wats the Hp diff between a RB20 and the 1JZ? also price wise of the halfcut wats the diff?
Thanks

jonniez, the car in the picture is not mine. saw it while I was at my mech's the other day. he does a lot of these conversions to jag's, merc, bimmers, altezza, etc.

HP for RB20 is around 220. RB25 is around 250 (??? can't remember already), 1J is around 280 and 2J is around 280-320.

Price dunno man. But 1J with VVTI as in the pics is in demand so more expensive.

bought my rb20 half cut in 2002. price was rm2500. rb20 from skyline r32. lama suda la tu kan....
