Hahahaha..... I do know the feeling when you made it wrong..... My biggest project was the Top Overhaul and its fail and lot of money to waste on it..... Ill post it anyway for you guys to see my failure part... Hehe... but not give up so soon... Must continue do what you love to do... right guys.... chears...

Hi guys so here it is... Im gonna show you the biggest project that i ever done my self.... The Top Overhaul project... Before i start the project I only have 1% knowledge about car that is Driving the car.... And with help by uncle google and youtube I can learn alot about car things fast... here the link that help me tough.. The reason I do this project was, I had an overheating problem, and my exhaust split water... then i got oil leak on my expansion radiator... So here the link that help me alot to do it... http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/techarticles/101-Projects-17-Head-Gasket/101-Projects-17-Head-Gasket.htm
Got alot of problem to understand it but i manage to understand it at last... Before starting the project, the problem I got is I had none tools to do it... Only screw driver... Haha funny right... So I list some tools that I could remember...

Wrench
No. 6,7,8,10,11,12,13,14,22,32 ( I forgot the number is it 32 or 30 ) that goona be needed to remove the Fan Clutch

And for the Cylinder Head & Camshaft Sprocket gonna need special tool the one look like a Star Head... And gonna need a pipe to help you twist the tool... Cannot be done by hand... But if you strong can try it...

https://www.google.com.my/search?q=wrench&client=firefox-a&hs=iXE&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=0yKBUea3LYjtrQfLwoCgAg&ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=976#imgrc=z3N78gDoejvPUM%3A%3BbtxcN1savGfUlM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fimages.yourdictionary.com%252Fimages%252F4125.16.socket-wrench.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fimages.yourdictionary.com%252Fsocket-wrench%3B433%3B489

So here the process...

View attachment 29969View attachment 29970

Here the look of my engine bore the process start...

View attachment 29971View attachment 29972View attachment 29973View attachment 29974View attachment 29975View attachment 29976View attachment 29977View attachment 29978View attachment 29979View attachment 29980View attachment 29981View attachment 29982

Here the removing process for the Air Intake System and the Fuel system... Here i took the pic for mark where the nut will be... But some pic I never refer to it.. just use my memory for it... and for more better one... simply put the nut back on its current place after take off the part, that much more easier with using any memory to remember where will the nut place... here some sample...

View attachment 29983

Just let the nut where it should be.... So here the next pic... chears...

View attachment 29984View attachment 29985View attachment 29986View attachment 29987View attachment 29988

Take out the intake manifold, spark plug coil then the valve cover...

So next will be cam shaft right? The hardest part coming...

View attachment 29989View attachment 29990View attachment 29991

Here the pic of the camshaft and that the nut for the Cylinder Head that you gonna need special tool for it...

View attachment 29992View attachment 29993View attachment 29994View attachment 29995View attachment 29996

Where the process of removing the camshaft sprocket.....

View attachment 29997View attachment 29998View attachment 29999

The yellow cable tie if to hold the chain so it wont drop inside the engine block....

View attachment 30000View attachment 30001View attachment 30002

Here the pic for the belting of the alternator, crank and water pump... taking this pic for marking it... so i know how to put it back after take it off...

View attachment 30003View attachment 30004View attachment 30005

After take out the camshaft, time to take out the cylinder head... 1 pic is the pic of exhaust... here gonna need lot of patient to remove the nut with small space... there to area can remove it... can remove one by one the nut on the exhaust or from down below just remove the nut at the exhaust that is only 6 nut if not mistake... pros and cons... easy and if you doing this your self you gonna need lot of strength to lift both cylinder head and the exhaust, i do this on the 2nd time remove the head...

View attachment 30006View attachment 30007View attachment 30008View attachment 30009

Now dont be shock when u saw this... yup that the pic of my piston and my valve... dirty right? hehehe....

View attachment 30010View attachment 30011View attachment 30012

Here the biggest mistake that I make... Yeah i break the camshaft... at took me so hard to look for the part... almost order it on the oversea, but lucky got it at penisular... I ask the bmw dealer here at Sabah, the dealer said Only for the intake camshaft will cost me Rm 2K - 3K then the exhaust Cam will cost around RM 3K - 4K +... what the hell... better i other engine!! but I dont give up look for it, until I get it in penisular used part dealer... both for only RM 500 and postage will total RM 590... Then here the project end of mine... The next story I send to workshop to do it for me.. This is because the Timing tool... I would like to buy it but its cost alot.. The cost of the timing tool are more than cost for the merch labor charge... So i leave it to the workshop...

So this the camshaft that I brought and the pic of my valve after cleaning it.... So chears guys.... ps: the risk is high to do it your self, but the feeling you cant describe it...

Waalawey so daring bro hehehe...
Thumps up to you...
after going thru you info it seams that you not bother about the timing mark...this is very importance...
Even broke the cam shaft during disassembly...
Well finally send it to the workshop hehehe...
Hope the eng is back to normal again...:burnout:

This the old pic actually but just post it today... It was last year... The car break down on March 2012 then send to workshop on September and get the car back on October... Yea the mistake that I've do there is, I didnt put the crankshaft to the TDC ( Top dead center ) That y the valve hit the piston then break the camshaft.... Almost hit my head using the camshaft after notice I accidentally break it... hahaha... btw thanks bro...

See your plat no PDX..are you from Semenanjung?

Nope bro... Got this car from here Sabah... maybe the last owner bring it from there....

How about the value of a second hand car (any model/brand) bearing Semenanjung registration no? Any different from Sabah/Sarawak registered car?

Nope, no different at all... The different only the market price... Here in Sabah have a rare E34 so the selling price are more high than peninsular. And that include others car aswell... If it was me, I rather buy car from peninsular.. More cheaper than Sabah, "Local Car Dealer". Buy from peninsular + shipping/air still get the cheaper price.. That what I see... Even my last car that is Proton Tiara sold for RM 4k... I see in peninsular people can sell it for 1k only... That what I thought, peninsular car more cheaper than here at Sabah...

Max...I see your rear bumper without the towing cover (square cover), you lost it? I have one lying around..can mail it to you if you want...
