e30 idling jumping

hi just wondering if the sifus can help me with my problem...my engine is a m20b20 , jetronic....everything bout the engine is fine ...EXCEPT when i start the car in the morning , the idle is above 1k, and its constantly jumping from 1k to 1.3-1.5k rpm...like i'm revving it bit by bit. its the same after im out in the road or at traffic light stops.but after i turn on the aircon , (SOMETIMES..only sometimes ) the idle would be normal and not jump , still i think my idle is bit high even at that moment, it'll just stay at 1.3k-1.5 k rpm , what's the normal rpm for an e30 ( maybe diff? ) please correct me .sometimes after hard driving , the idle seems to tame down a bit , but it has NEVER been at 1k rpm .pls advice if anyone knows a possible culprit .thanks.

air slide valve is similar with icv, but it's used for L-jectronic engines..it's mechanical compare to electronic icv..

air flow system check pls 2) spark plugs 3) fuel filter n injector maybe faulty...go to a chop shop check a 2nd hand air flow 4 ur model try change 1st before paying ..if solvethen neg n pay the price,nvr more than rm380..if stil the same,,,itis nt ur air flow.happy trying 1st tq dany

Talk about M40 engine idle, my one must turn on aircond all the time then stable at 900rpm, if aircond off then up and down between 750 - 850rpm, i try to change idle control valve but still same, any sifu can give tips? thank you..

the idle for the m20 should be 650 to 700rpm... 650 is standard with the 50 for air-con, headlights..

i plan to replace all my valve hoses first this weekend, coz i reckon that's one way to make sure that its not leaking air from there first.

then i think i would adjust/open the Throttle position switch n make sure everythign is set to idle properly ...

last resort if that doesnt work , maybe get the mechanic to open the afm n adjust the springs.

The strangest thing is.. when i start the car in the evening ( when i leave in my basement for 9-10 hrs at the office) there is no problem and the idle is at 800rpm. Only in the morning when the car is left in the open under the skies the idle is at 1.5k rpm and this last for about 15-20 mins of driving even during traffic lights. After that its back to normal

Has this go to do with some tempature sensor? Please adivce burning fuel like nobody business

to me, it works fine, but it should be for 5 mins or so.. maybe some adjustments to the air slid valve, sensors..

air slide valve can adjust wun meh. I may be wrong but far as i kno, it's a sealed unserviceable unit. if it goes wonky, it's to be changed.

Hi there 2cents, long time no see & how has it been?

You are right its not serviceable and to be replace once kaput.

The Air Slide Valve is mounted below the inlet manifold. It's operation dependent on coolant temperature to provide more air-flow by passing the throttle when cold (valve open) to raise cold idle speed (thereby enrichening) at cold start up. The bi-metallic actuator spring fails/clogs with age generally sticking the valve either closed or open.

You can check yours by dunking them in boiling water and see if the valve slide close. Literally, if the valve jammed closed, your engine wouldn't get that vital extra bit of air when cold and your idle F&#K.

The new unit will cost around rm700 - 800. Air Slide Valve part no. (11 531 287 304). A used one will cost half maybe.
