Dear all,This morning, I couldn't unlock my car. Thought the battery was gone. So, I used the manual key on the fob. Suspecting something not right, I tried to lock the door and unlock it via the door lock button on the dashboard, but the lock did not unlock. I had to manually open my door and only will it unlock (good safety feature!). The irony of the matter was all my Radio/steering wheel button settings were all gone. Even the PDC was disabled and so was the memory seats/wing mirror settings. In the afternoon, I made my way to Ingress. In 30 mins, they checked and solved the problem. Root cause: 15Amp fuse blown for door lock system. Replaced with 20Amp fuse. Apparently, this was in a service bulletin for E90s. I was infomred if the 20Amp fuse blows, then they will need to replace the door lock system.Lo and behold, all my settings returned to normal as what I pre-programmed previously.Thought I'd share this with all of you. Oh yah! This was covered under BSRI.:top:Cheers!

hehehehe.... so you were next.. after mine.. same thing.

What about your steering lock fault? experience before?

Steering lock - tak ada. Heard it happens on mostly 320i models. But if happen, then I will try your trick. :top:

I am driving a E90 -320i, what trick is that ? maybe I should get myself prepared. Any idea under BSRI, we request them to change gear oil at 40K km at our own expense since it is not in the BSRI schedule

I don't know why leh. Ingress SA said the battery amps could be too high and blew the fuse. I thought these electronic stuffs had some kind of power regulators/rectifiers.

On the fob, holding the way as you would put it in, press the centre thingy between the 2 holes and pull out the manual key which will be attached to it on the left.

Car got locked down few months ago. oso fuse problem thats according to Ingress SA.

Look at it as teething problem like human being, all babies has it.. all new E90 as well..

In fact, felt like congratulating u for getting new teeth.. :D

Those new E90 kaki, please get an independent tyre shop to take your wheels alignment reading to see if they are okay. SC often do a lousy job in this department during PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). Few recommended shops mentioned in some other threads, go look them up and check your alignment before your super expensive RFT tyre suffer irregular wear. Can't claim warranty on tyre irregular wear.. :p

Also, please check if they have solve the mystery on the missing cover for the headlight socket.

Rachel, the FOB is charged every time we use it to run the car. Have u recently do tinting to your windows?

central lock

Yup, my turn yesterday... My wife was having problem with it and quickly insisted that she has done no wrong and should not be blamed! so I looked up the this forum and send it to Ingress Auto which is the closest.
They fixed it within minutes at no charge - BSRI.

happy again!

Which model year does this affect? Or is it specific to 4-cyl or 6-cyl models?

gosh
i m surprised the problem has not been resolved ! it was first discovered way back in 2006. It started of with the fuse and later changing of the fuse wont do any good...

I had my fair share today on Door Lock

Yesterday night I tried to unlock my car. The locks wont come up. But there was lights. Tried a few times, also cannot. Then went back into the house to get the spare key. Same. So confirm cannot be battery. So I called for HELP. I still kasi face to Astroboy. and poor me, astroboy till today still dont want to choi me. (see, i still heart Bmwclub) Then I called him, n him n him.

Today, got my car over to IA. Rishi said must change entire car lock system cos jam. So not a simple fuse. The surprise part was, none of my settings were lost. I still had the radio, the mirrors were still folding, etc.. So collecting my car tmrw.

Also with this door lock thingy, I cant open the other doors. So my son had to climb in n out when i send him to school today. and Thank God, I still had enough gas to drive to IA.

E46 have the same problem and now E90 also the same thing?

I have the same problem last year but it went away after I dismantle the GM5 module and cleaned it up with contact cleaner.
It been a year since I have this problem.. Touch wood..

Service Advisor said, common problem

Anyway, thanks to Astroboy, Schweeps, DavidYong and E46F and IA SC- Damien for all yr words of encouragement, tips, diagnosis..

ps: astroboy did send me sms after all....

Yup! few miss calls and 1 message.. :p

Wey! Was attending one of my most important free golf lesson thus far lar! Must mute the phone.. hehe.. :D

Glad to know your bf is fine now and to be discharged tomorrow.. :D

Funny, I thought the key should work!! Also, you should be able to open from the inside with the handle. Of course, the central locking/unlocking button will not work laa..

If deadbolt is ON, you cannot open the door by pulling it twice from inside. You need to wind down the window and use your key to open the door from outside.

I personally have experienced a faulty DME module E46. Only drivers door can be opened. That is if from outside, use the key and if from inside, just pull the door release handle. The other 3 door all DEAD inside out, even the fuel cap door. Boot need to use key also.. E90 boot key hole location u all know ya?!
