TO ALL THE THOSE WHO WERE BORN IN THE 50's and 60's / early '70s........ ....Got this email that brings back some memories... ehehehe... Found this on another site to share with you guys>>>>> TO ALL THE THOSE WHO WERE BORN IN THE 50's and 60's / early '70s........ .... First, we survived with mothers who had no maids. They cooked /cleaned while taking care of us at the same time. They took aspirin, candies floss, fizzy drinks, shaved ice with syrups and diabetes were rare. Salt added to Pepsi or Coke was remedy for fever. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. As children, we would ride with our parents on bicycles/ motorcycles for 2 or 3. Richer ones in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a private taxi was a special treat. We drank water from the tap and NOT from a bottle. We would spend hours on the fields under bright sunlight flying our kites, without worrying about the UV ray which never seem to affect us. We go to jungle to catch spiders without worries of Aedes mosquitoes. With mere 5 pebbles (stones) would be a endless game. With a ball (tennis ball best) we boys would run like crazy for hours. We catch guppy in drains / canals and when it rain we swim there. We shared one soft drinkwith four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually worry about being unhygenic. We ate salty, very sweet & oily food, candies, bread and real butter and drank very sweet soft sweet coffee/ tea, ice kacang, but we weren't overweight because..... . WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, till streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours repairing our old bicycles and wooden scooters out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem . We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, multiple channels on cable TV, DVD movies, no surround sound, no phones, no personal computers, no Internet.WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and we still continued the stunts. We were never given birthday parties till we were 21, We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and just yelled for them! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! Yet this generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 40 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the government regulated our lives for our own good. and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were. PS: -The big type is because of Long-sightedness or hyperopia at our age .

wa bro b4 i finish reading my mind went numb!! so when shall we go out playing again??:D

Lol bro.. eventho i was born in 1987 and as u can say im da new generation of kids who mingled with the technology alot and nvr bother to play outside. and yes, i do agree in some but there are still kids who go outside and play with their bicycles. i was one of them. i climbed the mango tree in front of my house when i was a kid, i played the kite at the field in front of my house *which is now turned into kesas highway* and always terkena tahi lembu. damn those lembu. i catched guppy in a big drain in front of my school which was fun eventhough many kids my age find it disgusting.i would simply go to my friend's house and yell their names.and by the time maghrib comes, if im not back, my parents will come and search for me at my friend's house.

that's my whole story. but yes, i would appreciate my parents more since that u already told me what their pastimes were.

Nothing, young is good, and I am not bald like others  hahaha

Nothing wrong with not driving a BMW. I also rarely drive a BMW nowadays though I do walk under light drizzle like Unker Jules. Anyone who has lived in the UK will learn (ie no choice) to walk under light drizzle. And yes, playing in the rain is fun, esp with 30 men on a soggy field going after one oval ball. If you wanna get wet, you should join us for this :

among the fun I had last time in kampung was helping the Malays with their gotong royong cathing fishes like puyu, haruan, sepat ronggeng, sepat sometime mistaken for a fish...python!. we used to go help those kampung houses with small pond besides their house. They'll split the fish fairly...those days the 2kilo of haruan is norm...sepat as bigger then our palm.

they'll trap the fishes from the padi field outlet drains....damn syiok la.

Those days you would use the fixed line telephone (the only one available) to make appointments with your friends and everyone would show up on time at the right spot. You can also go to the school canteen and buy a bowl of 20 sen noodles, the most unnutritious meal you can buy for money :p
