Need some info about this.Anyone know at what position the rotor is at when it at TDC?thanks a lot.

What car?
Knowledge from others car, TDC at first cylinder, the rotor should be facing the "spark-end" for first cylinder's spark wires. Usually PAST it. (I am not sure if this make sense)

You shouldn't have to worry about the position. It should have a groove, and you should only able to put in at FIX position.

I am not sure if you understand, I can't explain it really well. But hope this help :)

If distributor not right, car won't start or not smooth, then just use a timing beam to adjust the distributor rotor..

TDC (Top Dead Center) is more improtant for u to fit your timing chain and cams. OTW the marker will not make sense.

With the piston at TDC on the compression stroke for #1 cylinder, the rotor shud be at(rightfully shud be slightly after)the #1 cylinder as indicated on the distributor cap.If there's no markings, trace the routing of the HT cable

so the rotor should be at the cylinder 1? theoretically should be there but not sure how many rotation it would take the crank to rotate the rotor... huhuhu~

btw, i recently change timing belt and water pump by myself but forgot to mark the other gear (not the crank and cam). so the timing lari and the engine wont start. (before change no problem). so i need the position of the rotor at TDC. hopefully someone can help...

I am not sure why you have such problem.
You should take a picture, and show us your problem.

If you line up your crank, cam, and etc, I don't see how you have problem.
Dist rotor should just "plug and play".
After the car start, adjust your rpm idle, then adjust your timing with a "timing light".

cheers.

Totally agree with turbology.. maybe few wires tak pasang balik.. Plugs ada spark ka?

the problem is i did not mark the other gear, that gear rotate the rotor, now not sure what position the rotor should be. if the rotor not in correct position, the the spark will occur in wrong cylinder. at least that what i think.

anyway, where i can find the timing light? is it expensive?

all wires dah pasang... huhuhu~ plug cant check la got spark or not as working alone... maybe will try finding people to help me... huhuhu~

where are you ?
If you are near, I can help.

Do you have plugs wiring wrong at distributor ?
Is never 1-2-3-4 , more like 1-4-2-3. Please check.

If you are working alone, yes, you still can check ;)
Take a plug out, with wires on, leave the plug on the block, and crank the engine.
Make sure you can see the spark plug from inside the car. You should able to see the spark when you crank it.
IMPORTANT : make sure you unplug fuel pump, and discharge fuel tank. Do it open air area:D

i'm in shah alam... actually i never touch the plug wiring all exactly like before... huhuhu~

will try to see the spark first...

btw, i fit the belt all over again and the car batuk a bit... i think just a minor turn at the rotor it should start... huhuhuh~
