Decided to try the Pilot Sport 3 - PS3s

Just put these on yesterday and will be writing up a review once I have more mileage on them. Washed the car this morning and decided to take a few shots of the ride shod with the new rubbers... Initial observations is that they are really comfy and have wider sidewalls vs. the PS2s... Very chunky tyres as well with treadwear of 320! But I think they look pretty good.

Made in Hungary I see. Can't be cheap, no AFTA duty exemption like Thai & Fillippino Michelins.

price wise, i am told it is cheaper than PS2s. Bought new PS2s about 2 weeks before these came out

I got them for RM807 for the fronts - 225/40/18 and RM1054 for the rears 255/35/18. Actually wanted to change fronts only due to wear on the outer rib (possibly running too much toe), but kena racun from the sales guy to do all 4. He offered to take back my realtively good condition rear PS2's for Rm200 each and contra the fronts with free alignment/camber/balancing works. Did it at Lim Tayar TDDI.

On paper Michelin claims to have addressed some of the weaknesses of the PS2 vs. its more modern competitors with the PS3.

BMW's I am running the ET30 on the rear with 9.5J wheels and and ET35 8.5J in the fronts if I remember right. No spacers and I believe this Volk ME were really spec'ed for the E90 as its a good fit and some of their catalogs for the Volk ME's are shown with the E90

Now only thing left is to get the rubbers to settle in and push them a little to see if what Michelin claims is true hehe.

Just got 4 pieces (205/50/16) for my e30 and here are my findings so far after 200kms:

1. Ride comfort is greatly improved. Almost felt like I changed bushings. Was a bit strange in the first few kms. The were very quite and plush like premuim sedan tyres. Which threw me off as it is very uncharacteristic of a Pilot Sport product. After the initial scrub in, i started to explore it's cornering ability and found that it was rock solid and had great levels of grip! Kudos to Michelin for being able to deliver a performance tyre with plush ride! Amazing!

2. Wet grip is at least 20% better the the PP2 I was using. The spray from the tyres on wet roads is insane even at 60 kmh. Very evident from the side and rear view mirrors.

3. Dry grip is at least 30% better than the PP2.

Conclusion: very happy and would freely recommend this tyre to anyone.

Ya I have the m mobility kit. Lim tayar had a set of PS2 rft s on display. Rm1500+ for 255/35/18. Also had the conti kit in stock on display for those who opt out of the more expensive rft replacement. Those guys know how to do biz la. Look for Marcus there and see if he can work out some deals for u

wow...cool! You surprised me with this PS3 which i've been searching for its existence sometime back...here it is!

Looks like i'll need to upgrade my PS2 with this one!

:top: Thought as much. Those grooves are definitely designed to handle water. Dry handling and braking are supposed to be the same as PS2 though. Let us know how it handles overall when run-in.

Those prices are definitely European-made Michelin prices all right. But worth it for peace of mind if you do a lot of high speed driving.

Tyre warranties are really worth squat. You'd have to prove that a failure was caused by manufacturing defect and not normal road damage.

Will definitely consider the PS3 since it seems more resistant to aquaplaning along curves. So far I have aquaplaned twice while driving within highway speed limit, the second time almost hitting a e39 :13:

Was told 15 inches PS3 will replace PP2 and the smaller sizes of PS3 is made in Tomyamland.
