Hi guys,I'm new and mine is m43 + the radiator cooled with clutch fan. Got a recommendation from one of foreman to change to electric fan cause it will less burden to the engine...What say you ? Any recommendation ?Thank you

True but I would only do it when my clutch fan kaput.. :)

Modern cars all using electric fan, even my old man 1994 Volvo 940.

for your info, the later model M43 comes with electric fan... and yes, it will free up some horses due to parasitic drag.... if you're itchy backside and have year end bonus to splash, do it... but if can tahan the itch, can wait till the fan clutch konked then do the 'upgrade'...

Anyone have electric fan for E46 M52?

Sorry cikupat, tumpang your thread..

Rahizwan, there is a brand called Vaio (if I remember correctly) that do make electric fans for the M54 and less than RM900, ori BMW is close to 1400 I think. However when you retrofit into your M52, you will only get 3 speed function, instead of 7 (I think). :)

Thanks Bundy, if thats the case i might need to reconsider on changing it :smokin:.

Bro, it is still alright to change it. 3 speed is adequate, slow medium and fast :)

Does it mean the whole radiator needs to be replaced together as well to accomodate the "tapak" for the electric fan?

Aiyaa, I see many just use cable tie to slap the electric fan on, after some time, the tie gets brittle and fan jatuh.. haha :)

How do I know that my E39 clutch fan is working properly or not? One of my mechanic says ...your clutch fan 'sudah tak berapa bagus'. What does it mean? Does not run at desired speed that a good fan should do? If confirm time to change, should I consider electric fan instead? Any E39 fellow use electric fan?

Any 1 here convert from fan clutch to electric fan ? what i am concern is the electric fan. where should we connect the wire in order to signal for the electric fan to turn.

Once u convert to electric fan, you wont need the secondary or auxiliary fan (air cond fan). The electric fan would run using the supply from there.

E39 can use M54 electric fan. It makes a noticeable difference as there is less parasitic loss, especially when you are accelerating.

Cheers
