welcome to the family club. my child was born in march this year, i too went thru many research and seen even BMW isofix seat. but ISOFIX in malaysiar is hard to get .

my recommendation : Britax ! britax !. but its hard to find ISOfix version for britax, so i got mine is britax without ISOFIX but with teether ( use it on the back of the seat latch ) , do expect to spend RM 1.2 ~ 1.8k
also remember to get convertible.

child seats with isofix are very secure, and I'd highly recommend using them vs the ones that secure to the rear seatbelts.
There are 2 clamps (one on either side) which lock the bottom portion of the child seat into place where the rear car seats have the isofix button/logos, and a back strap to hook to a clasp near the rear speakers, which locks the upper portion of child seat in place. once in place, the baby seat is almost immovable.
been using "maxi cosi" very happily for both my little tykes, and it's a good one to consider. congrats on your upcoming family addition!
...word of advise if it's your first one - get as much sleep as you can before Feb '12 :4:

Hi Willie, I hv got my new born baby maxi-cosi baby seat with family base(isofix) in July this year. Ya, my baby girl born in May 11'. It is very convenient, would be a smart buy if you are always on the go or can't stay at home. You may consider buying Quinny zapp xtra(baby pram) too, it is compatible with maxi-cosi.

BMW baby seat+ selling at RM 2600. Quoted by AB JB.

Bro Willie, I bought my Recaro Prosport with isofix at First Few Years - The Curve for about Rm 1700, don't bother paying all the premium at the BMW dealer, you know it's a rip-off. A number of car seats offer isofix but it's more for seats that are forward facing. Check out the Recaro seats from First Few Years, they're made in the US of A, pretty good quality.

Child seats with isofix with top thether are the best bet. Each hook can take up to about 765kg of load according to NHTSA specs. Divide that to an average toddler of 12kg, that's how much load a child seat can take. But what we have here are safe too, restrained by a three point seat belt. There is a list of child seat by brand and design in the NHTSA with safety ratings. You can get almost all of them from the states. But sad to say we are quite limited in child seat selections here due to the lack knowledge in child restraints safety, since its typical of Malaysians letting their kids stand on front passenger seat while they drive. If you can try child seat brand which is found in the states or EU and at least you know they have been tested to keep the child safe. Not some local brand, if you know what i mean.

Aha.. I'm about to open the same thread.. Thanks willie.. Mine EDD on May 2012. This is our first baby :)
Want some help here.. Can you all post picture of isofix or latch point coz i only found 2 points like big staple hidden at rear seat . On the left and right seat.. Dunno it is true isofix/latch point or just rear seat point. And there is no point near the speaker at the rear seat.

Btw my car is E60 525 year 2006 UK specs.. I also dunno which brand should i choose.. Last time check with Eurotuner for baby seat.. It cost around RM1,800 .. But it only can carry baby from born to 9 months only.. I prefer baby seat which can be use until 3 years old . And also can become stroller... Any recommendations guys..

Recaro Proride circa 1.5k-2k depending from which store you get. fellow member who installed the seat on his 320d isofix is really satisfied with the seat so far.
and the kid too.i am getting one too, soon

How come you don't have the LATCH system on your car seat? LATCH(US)=ISOFIX(UK). Or is it called teether now?

yes latch ( US ) = isofix ( UK ) but advantage is this http://www.britaxusa.com/learning-center/360-degree-protection/energy-absorbing-versa-tether

my previous UK e60 and Jap e60 both have isofix on the back seat but not the tether point end up i have to order the teether point and drill it in my e60, but i see singapore and malaysia bmw have it at 2009/10 .

now my f10 also have it ( 3 point at the back rear speaker there , so i am happy ;)

i think one of reason we get bmw /German is for its safety feature

agreed with bro here, i forbid my wife and my newborn ever sit in front seat together. i told them i get f10 so i be come their servant, if you drive in highway long enough and witness the unnecessary death of infant you cringe everytime you see baby with mom on front seat.

rule #1 baby NEVER front seat always BACK only they are 6 year old with bolster they can sit front,

rule #2 get the babyseat that can hold the MAX load rear facing as long as possible so your baby can be rear facing its the most safest position . some britax can go to 16KG rearward facing.

in the end went with britax but britax us edition is hard to get here, tried even in singapore .

dun mix , separate it , stoller = stroller , get a good convertible car seat do not go for cheap seat. for UK E60 2006 ( same like my previous car ) , you need to install versa teether latch ( 3rd one ) , its mandatory in US
the good news is the screw point is built in on your car rear , its the carpet hide it thats all. just drill and install it ( http://www.car-safety.org/latch.html )

thanks for the quick reply... how much are those maxi-cosi base??? and how much are those child seat fitted on the maxi-cosi base???

ya i only allowed my son to sit at the back since born and my wife is also at the back to take of it. For 6 years now, due to that, I look like driver now as none of them want to sit in front. Wat to do......

Good info.... Sticky please!
Seems like most F10 drivers are going into fatherhood. Hopefully in a year or two times, I will join thencrowd
