Sifus.....i manage to do a second test drive on my friends E39 before signing the paper and what did you know?while i was cruising slowly at 10km/h the car die on me with the check engine light turn on. there after i cannot start the engine...make a few calls inclusive the owner and Chu Seng. They advise to fill up with some gas and wala...the cars again but idle is rough until for a couple of rev. then i slow drive to gas station to fill up another $50. what annoys me is the check engine light was never turn off there after. the rough idle slowly faded away as i took her to jelutong express highway. so long story short....any possible disaster i have come across? or will come across? fingers cross and good thing i haven't sign the paper yet.....:dong:

could be a sign of a fatally ill fuel pump....

bimmer, how much is it to replace one? also what's the usual cost to replace power window motor rear passenger ones.

thx....

it could be a fuel/air mixture issue. So, fuel pump could be the cause because not enough fuel is pumped.

I've not replaced mine in my hands.....so far...touch wood. Previous owner has replaced the pump not too long before i purchase it. If i recall properly when i went thru the receipts, it was around Rm 700- 800.

Never replaced power window motor before....again...touch wood. Only thing failed was my driver's side window lifter.

bimmerholic, i saw fuel pump from the e39 maintenance cost forum is around $200, pls confirm this cos you mentioned here $800. is this the most recent price?

bmw7833 thx....i'll ask the my friend to fix it first then...

ermmm...only RM200? If I remember correctly e46 cost about RM600++..means e39 cheaper maintenence?

So was what written in the receipt inclusive labour. Replaced in March 2008 and it's original. I don't know what's the price now.

depends. Pre-FL E39 has a different power window mechanism. The replacement kit is about RM200++ but for Post-FL, RM800++. This is for the rear. For fronts, not sure about pre-FL, but for post-FL is RM1300++

affan: thx for the update so i would like to check with you whether 2000 model is pre FL or post FL?

But right now in market, 9.5/10 of e39 running with angel eye.

Year 2000 is the TU engine, i reckon your car is facelifted.

doublevanos pawa window kit rm1200. the kit consist of the lifter&motor. i changed b4 the taiwan lifter, use back ori motor, few time lifting up-down the cable start to make screeching sound. to it out and send back to the shop. finally buy the whole set, new n ori. no sound
