Cheap man...

aren't that 0W meant for cold weather countries ...whereby makes the oil viscosity thinner for an easy start up ?

Iceman 13,

I dont know. Currently i am using Mobil 1 0W-40 which i buy from Mobil station. Just for a change, i am trying this Castrol Edge Sport.

Yes you're right ... It lubricates engine parts faster during cold start-ups

TQ ... oppsss not sure how it react with the malaysia tropical climate ... does this oil burns up fast ...my meaning of burns up fast is , when you use this oil and by checking the dip stick everyday , how long does the oil colour changes it's colour ?? any1 tried this experiement ?? OR no one checks thier dip stick at all ...

0W - the viscosity of the oil during cold temperature : 40W - The viscosity of oil at 100 Celcius.

10W-40 vs 0W-40 ... Both oil will have the same viscosity during hot temp (100 celcius). But during cold start the one with 0W will have a better flow than the one with 10W.

It's a complex subject and i'm still trying learn all the technical terms lol

A very good read:- http://www.upmpg.com/tech_articles/motoroil_viscosity/

Hi,Which place Tesco you bought ?you using Mobil 1 bought from Shell station?

Hi yapkjm,

Bought it at Tesco Puchong. Currently i am using Mobil 1 bought from Mobil Station. (sorry typo)

Thanks for sharing. Very good price as it normally goes for RM195. Will get some for my ride.

Amongst friends that have used this, all have concluded that the heat rejection is more efficient judging from the oil temp.

By the way, this Castrol 0W-40 is a group IV PAO based synthetic oil. The 5W-40 and 10W-60 Edge Sport are Group III. The other group IV based oil is the TWS. Not too sure about the SLX as I havent used it before.

Wow! Information I fail to get from Castrol direct or shall I say they reluctant to give.. you the man! Heading to Tesco now! Adios!

Got the info from Castrol Malaysia itself via an email. If interested can give the oil property chart also :)

All because I asked why 0-40W is so much more expensive than 5W-40 and 10W-60, and also since Castrol officially does not import the TWS oil into Malaysia, what options is there for the ///M cars. For the record, the 10W-60 Edge Sport (which replaces the Formula RS) is safe to be used on the ///M cars according to Castrol.

However, I find the 0W-40 Edge Sport to be a better option and have used it for a year without any issues.

Cheers
