BMW sharkfins and android phone

since BMW does not sell cradle for android phone (ditched iphone4 for a nexus4), i was thinking if there's a way to DIY to connect to the sharkfin via the ports (suppose to connect with iphone).is it possible? has anyone tried it before? or there's any kind of adapter to connect the cradle to micro-USB of android phone?

Why you need all these things? You can use the phone 100% without the BMW stupid idiot idrive. You just need the bluetooth connection!

I think Schwarz wanted to use the sharkfin antenna to improve reception, which is a good idea especially in low-signal areas and if you have some sort of metal-particle based windows tinting.

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible with anything other than the supported phone models (iphone4 and below, I tried with my 4S last year and it didn't work on my F10). Car manufacturers just can't keep up with the new models coming up.

I read in overseas forum that the new snap on adapter for iPhone 5 is coming in Jun or Jul 2013. Can't wait to get my hand on one. I wish it would come earlier.

The shark fin antenna is for BMW radio and iDrive GPS reception. It also function as an external antenna for mobile phone if you connect your mobile phone using the snap in adapter for better network reception.
