gives me a 'kick' .. i like but gb will kong faster

that what my mechanic told me,saying that sport mode activate gear dragging?so is it safe to say that you can't use sport mode too often?

was told that the ecu goes on a more aggressive mapping when on sports mode, not to mention higher shiftpoints of gearbox. anybody care to dismiss/confirm?

That is something that's quite apparent Mizhan but I was hoping we could get some technical info la

sorry la.. myself just a small time enthusiast only, nowhere compared to the gurus here. however, to answer your question, we need to be able to read and understand the ECU codes, whether there's a dedicated subroutine for sport mode. obviously the gearbox has one.

sleep? i'll get plenty when i kick the bucket ;)

In BMW car, gearbox which comes with selector of E/S/M comes with a gearbox ECU. This gearbox ECU will communicate with the engine ECU based on the settings that you are in. So, it will change the profile of your engine when you change the selection. In details what, this has to be explain by BMW engineer themselve.

But in short, Sports makes your car go faster

does it also stiffen up suspension or increase the breaking prowess?i do feel an incresaes in the breaking power when the sport mode is on,but i am not sure whether is it just me!lol

sports mode increase engine braking but not the actual braking mechanism.

that's merely because sports mode keeps you in comparatively lower gear. like you drop gear la...

its because in sports mode the gearbox don't go up a gear when you release the accelerator.

I think it's just psychological.I'm not sure of the E36 but I don't think even the E60s are that advanced. The M5 maybe. Then of course we have the R35s Skyline which comes with an array of suspension settings but I didn't notice any particular settings for the brakes when I had the opportunity to try one.Furthermore the change in sports mode could probably extend to the suspensions but not to the brakes.Logically I should think that if a car comes with strong brakes,it's on all the time regardless of what mode you maybe in.Besides, why would the brakes need to go lesser when you're in normal mode? That's my theory la.again solely based on my intuitions rather than technical back up.

The suspensions, yes but do we know of any car that takes on a different braking system upon touching the sports mode?

brake no but differential yes. the new Z4 which comes with the Sports or Sports +
