BMW E36 328i 1997 Power Steering Rack Problem

salam satu malaysiasaya baru beli dan kurang berpengalaman tentang kereta bmw. saya ada masalah tentang power steering rack. belok kanan, kiri memang problem. pegi kedai tayar buat wheel alignment. tapi masih bermasalah. kata mekanik power steering rack rosak. macam mana saya nak dapatkan khidmat service yang baik utk selesaikan masalah ini. harap disini dapat membantu..TQ :listen:
 
Problem with power steering...

Recently my steering is making left turn on its own... its like *thud* Left 11 O'clock *thud* 10 O'clock...

When i speed up it lessen but it still moving towards left side...

Its that bad that it is like forcing my steering to turn left...

Then i send for alignment.

IT IS STILL THERE!

any shop can solve my problem?

ini kena boh kete atas hoist and kena buat a once over inspection kat belah bawah tu.musti ada suspension issues atau memana bushing yang dah rosaak ni.....or maybe even to the extent of some broken or cracked linkages.i feel it's dangerous to drive if you cannot control the car.send it in asap....
 
check steering rack , streering coupling , lower control arm , if all somehow dah worn off change je semua..dulu ive got the same problem masa baru dapat kereta ni siap ada freeplay lagi..now no problem..

Now i remember last time my e36 gave me such probs..but i sent it for overhauling, replaced the o rings,bushes, rack ends, etc and no more issues..apiz bru je ingatkan uncle hal nih..hehe

want ask to all otai2. Steering Rack recond rm900 is possible? include upah pasang rm1100.
 
if its recond, 900 is kinda cheap but how many months warranty? this is important for steering rack... min 3months!

i paid for recond, 1500 including labout wt 6 months warranty... and yes the first one broke in a week, got a new set replaced at no charge!! :)

Hehe untung la, maybe i asking that shop about warranty first.
 
just walk in any potong shop and these days the racks are costing around rm500 ... siap pasang maybe another rm200 ....

note : from chop shops you need to locate the best one as there aren't any waranty given unless you know them well ...

all the best and do post some pictures once it's done ya ...
 
hi all..kereta sy pn ada masalah stereng rack..for 318i how much it cost?ada leaking juga...kenapa ek?stereng rack bocor ke?
 
I did an overhaul to my 325i 36's p.steering rack by my friend here in BP..cost me around 200plus..most workshop dont recommend overhauling the rack as it is time consuming and they dont want to give such warranty..
 
bro JFT63... ur right....mine oso did the overhoul...till now its ok n just doin fine.kekadang je when we buy at chop shop some r ok some r not..just a luck..so mesti mau pandai tgk barang ok than baru beli..
