Hi bros! I understand the Bilstein Yellows are hard riding shocks for outright handling ability but can they be used with E34 standard springs? Would the yellows and standard springs give a better compromise between ride quality and handling? Would the Yellows require lowered springs?

if i remember correctly the sport bistin is shorter that the black kaler 1. if u put ur normal stended spring with the sport abs, the spring wud be slightly compress. u cud try but i wont do it la...

Yes, it would be a waste of money if you are not using it with matching springs. It's like wearing a pair of tailored made Armani slacks with Bata school shoes.........

:D Whoa! Bata shoes with Armani pants!! :D That's really funny!!

So I guess with standard springs the Bilstein HD would be ok?

hey bimmerman, i'm very tempted to replace bilstein black with bilstein yellow... or perhaps koni adjustables... anybody here familiar with koni ka? ok or not ar match with eibach pro kit?

In the immortal words of the grand master Kevin Kung "Stick with Bilstein, Everything else is placebo". :)

sure or not he got like that say? anyway, i remember getting a ride in his e30 and also Al's e34 which was what helped me decide on bilstein HD... but seems to work differently on my car... maybe all this bouncing is bcos i still running original 15 inci tayar... anyway, me just exploring alternatives to the yellow bilsteins before making the change...

Yup! That's what the Kungster said. I remember his words clearly and from that day onwards I only considered Bilstein. Strange your HD bouncing around like that. Could be your baloon tires.

Firm - but not as firm as Bilstein + Eibach.

i'm currently on apex + bilstein black. Feel the ride a little soft to my liking and a bit floaty at high speed. Was thinking of changing to bilstein yellow

the best is standard or

best of all combination is go with Bilstein B8 with H&R springs with 30mm drop.. the car will handle like a cart with comfort..but very expensive; approx. RM4800.00

Hi,
My E34 was riding on Eibach spring n Bilstein HD absorbers.
The handling was not up to expectation especially on uneven roads. Smooth highways are comfortable but how often we came across that setup?

At last, I changed back stock springs with Bilstein HD. The ride is good but abit steering when conners....

Looking at eibach springs with Bilstein sports absorbers(Yellow) in the near future....

My rim is 17" with 225/50/17 Toyo tyres.

best rgds.

Hi Chaiks,

You say with stock springs and Bilstein HD "the ride is good but abit steering when conners" How do you mean? Please elaborate on that.

Currently my setup is the opposite. I'm on Bilstein springs and HD absorbers. Well the springs are made by eiback for bilstein thus labelled bilstein by eiback. Ride is comfortable but I miss the luxury car long stroke suspension feel as the front keeps hitting the bumpstop. I think I may change to Bilstein B6 (yellow) with standard springs.

Hi,

Ur setup is ok, except to change to Bilstein B6 with the springs. When taking a corner, depends on ur speed of entering a corner, it will roll n not as firm as eibach spring in use.

with sports suspension, if ur using yr ride everyday, the bushes tend to wear out faster...

I'm checking out Eibach Pro Springs and Bilstein Shocks (not sure what colour) this weekend. Will update on cost once I've seen them. Know anywhere can get a good set of 17" rims?

I'm driving an E34.

Hi,

Eibch pro springs has to go with Bilstein sport shocks yellow color. It gives a firm ride. However, bushes tend to wear out double the speed of standard setup.

Best Rgds.
