All,Was returning back to KL from Singapore last night,Around 10.30pm passed the Kajang turn off (doing about 120km/hr), heading towards the Sg Besi toll gates. At about the Serdang area, suddenly there were two flashes of light which for a split second were "blinding" in nature. Immediately slowed down to gather my thoughts. What were these light flashes??1) lightning ?? rain had just stopped!!2) because of the timing of the flashes (split seconds) - it was more like a camera flash!!At the moment i am going with the theory that these "flashes" were camera flashes and as such it must have been the speed camera snapping photos of my car. Until I get the "summons" i will never know.If I am issued with a summon, it will proof that these speed cameras at night endangers the lives of Malaysian drivers. ( i had 3 other passengers in the car). The newspaper ads being taken out by AES supporters that these cameras save lives is misleading!!! Will keep you guys informed. As a warning, my advice to you guys & gals out there, be alert!!Anyone else faced such a scenario??rgds

Yeah i was "flashed" smwehere near puchong at the SKVE last friday night.
And boy it was blinding.

Yup. Its the AES camera. There is one around that area, before Sg Besi toll. The speed limit there is 90km/h.

so if night time when roads are clear and if most cars drive more than 90 km/h, it'll be a non-stop flash show and an annoyance. you'd think they'd be camera's using infra red tech by now.

it'll be difficult to "...proof that these speed cameras at night endangers the lives of Malaysian drivers". even if the people who pasang don't have a safety policy on its usage, hopefully the manufacturers would have and they've provided guideline on their safe usage. otherwise, wait for some driver to drive himself into an accident after being flashed for speeding. then maybe can try sue whoever put up the thing for damages. no accident no case. if got accident, still got to proof the case.

The location is just before kajang intersection if you're heading to KL. i was driving around 80kmh but still received the 'flash'.

Been through that stretch a few times. What i notice is the moment the flash pops, tendency by drivers to slam on the brakes in order to 'slow down' and 'not get caught' is always there, especially those on the inner most lane. Could cause a pile up if any of them didnt brake in time....

I was flashed by the bloody light too on NSE heading north to Penang, after the intersection of Taiping Utara.

And if not mistaken, it also flashes during day time when even the lousiest phone camera doesn't need one.

It caused a sudden blindness but not long. The more risky part is everyone is slamming on their brake.

The one at Putrajaya also the same. Too bright.

The thing that annoy me at Kajang road is people tend to drive way below speed limit when approach camera zone. The one i see a lot is near Shell before MAEP.

Bro, I know how strong is the flash is, i kena the same as you when travelling down to KL from SG...i almost accident...

Yup I got flashed at KM301.6 NSE at 1:13am and the flashes were indeed blinding at nite. I have got my AES compound mailed to me. I am going to Kajang magistrate this coming Jan.

It will be interesting if you can bring your lawyer and do not admit to the offence. You'll then be the pioneer or leading case against AES. Nway I heard that PR gov are more than happy to contest this AES suit.

First case will be this Dec so mine will not be a precedent case.

That's what I understood too, however when I travelled to S'ban & back with Waze (for Android) switched on, via KL-S'ban hiway, I received no warning for AES.

Waze depends on user reports. If no one reports there will be no alerts.

And if people report fake police you will get those fake alerts also. Annoying...
