Yes.. was thinking of getting that but was told, it may not work on the F10 as the electronics in the IBS controls charge- hence will fool the CTEK5.0 - am not sure how accurate.. someone try out and let us know??

Well, if one thinks the test and charge capabilities are not necessary or applicable, g1 racing has listed the standard Ctek MXS 5.0 at rakuten online store for $440. Anyone who's lazy to walk in can just get it delivered to their doorstep

Just curious - If we turn off the auto start/stop function mode during driving, will it extend the battery life a little bit?
Anyone has experienced it before?

Regardless, I will always turn off ASS everytime I start the car, if I can remember. Will be getting BimmerCoder to recode the ASS to remember the last setting - that means by default, ASS will not be started.

Never liked ASS in A6 hybrid. The BMW implementation is even more crude plus I believe the constant starting and stopping will wear down the start components faster. And how much fuel can we save anyway. Waste of time, really

I never liked it since day one. I asked Vick to code the ASS to remember the last setting in my car. ASS is off every time i start the car.

Hi Trademark,

I never knew we can program the ASS. Can we also program the auto hold function?

Hi YF,

The coding is to remember the last setting of the car before you shut it down. I guess it should works for auto hold function as well.

I will try it later and post up the result here.

I read somewhere either in this or the f30 forum that some dealers are willing to program the ASS for you for free whereas some will charge $180 for this simple coding. Anyway, since I'm already getting BimmerCoder to do the steering wheel and reverse cam install for me, might as well add a few more special coding tweaks

Hi guys, just a simple battery question. My neighbour had a flat battery and requested for a jump start. Was worried that it will effect my car so decided to jump start with my wife's car.

So the question : if I assist with the jump start with my car, connecting the cable to the + and - poles under the front bonnet, will it cause any damage to the electronics or even the battery it self?

Better safe then sorry so I thought I ask you guys.

Smart move on not using your car. Civic consciousness is one thing but I will never let my BMW to be used to jump start a car as there are too many electronics. Better be safe than sorry.

Your Neighbour may not be aware that the car insurance he bought comes with free car assist and towing. Just call the help line and they will send someone with a spare battery to jump start a flat one. And it's free.

I know LonPac, Allianz and Mitsui sumitomo and many others offer these services. Used them twice on my old civic FD before, usually no more than a 30 minute wait

Or alternatively, recommend him the ctek MXS 5.0 hehe
