Woit ... of course we buy local la. Must support local wannabe entrepreneurs, ma .... even if they are small time ones.

P/S - I love this thread .... one page on CD download ... we're 2-up on equipment and sound coloration !!! Ahahahahaha! But I think over the years, our ears have grown accustomed coloration in whatever form ... clean sounding music, warm sounding tracks and in some cases even from matching equipment. But like what WJ said, I'd love to do a simple comparo between those "burned" CDs and their original source just to see/hear the difference. Quickly call for the ICE TT, la ...
True, true, vanq, I find some "coloration" more suited my ears i.e. the warmth rather than clinical / neutral.... or maybe I am getting old and retro. Wei, wei, when is the ICE TT?

Let get back to the topic.

I wonder how suitable this test CD for ICE? I went through the whole CD while driving home and to office and I couldn't do much with it. I think it will be more suited to Home HIFI usage. It is fun to see the equalizer display dancing up and down though. Track 57 is really long! I mean long. From the start of that track, I drove from Bukit Jalil to KLCC and it hasn't finished. Now that I have printed the "How to Use" document then I realized it is full 20 minutes long. Hmm, without an RTA, there is really not much you can do with the disc.

Let me try the last track when I drive home tonight.

wj,
open mind + open ears.. So clean those ear wax.

Note to lurkers: the above discussion is a healthy and open discussion about hi-fi and listening. It's good to once in a while test theories. I sometimes become guilty of getting hooked up with too much jargon.

I remember one time I brough a friend who was doing Master's in Composition (Music) and asked him to listen to all the details. He was not interested at all with the details but was more interested with the way the song was composed and the instruments arrangement. Shows diff people have diff objectives when it comes to sound reproduction.

To each his own, bro .... certainly words to live by. As you've said, beyond the tech notes, jargons, theories and principles ... please open your minds and ears and LISTEN. Enjoy the music, they say and that's what we shall do. Excellent discourse here ... throughly enjoyed myself.

Cheers,
