ASC vs DSC

Hi,Sorry i am new here. I am currently looking to buy between a year 2000 model of 525i and a year 2001 model.Today i have went to see the year 2000 unit and it does have the ASC button below the climate control button. On the other hand, i have seen the 2001 unit without both ASC/DSC button. does that mean that unit have neither?I am looking for a unit that comes with DSC. How do i check whether the unit have DSC ?Thanks so much for your kind inputbronx

You really need to learn how to use google and wikipedea.

ASC = Anti skid control. Rear wheels are braked individually and throttle modulated by the computer.

DCS = Dynamic Stability Control. All four wheels can be braked individually and throttle modulated by the computer.

DSC is the evolution from ASC. You cannot have both.

How do you check if the car has either?
1. Surf the internet and educate yourself.
2. Bring the car to a competant mechanic.
3. Bring along a friend who is familiar with BMWs

I ask here because i thought u all expert would give me a quick tips to check.

My 'attitude' is based on the fact that I have been reading your threads and posts on this forum. I have also recieved several PMs complaining about your rude and brash conduct in this forum.

You have NO appreciation for the help and information that has been extended to you. Perhaps, you should get a tutor as you might learn that the internet is not just for porn and games.

yes bro, a VIN check on realoem.com show it is a E39 M54 1/2001 model

Yeah a VIN check will reveal the car's full specification. Alternatively, I can do some driving-testing and determine whether it's ASC, ASC+T or DSC. Tire cost will be borne by you

Next question to be ask is 'How do you know with that DSC button the car actually have DSC function ? .
