But what about when you want to listen to songs?? I mean... if you are a radio freak then it's OK but if you are listening to CD/MP3... the sound will be exactly like radio!

sad to say, i'm not much of an audiophile anymore these days...

i only listen to radio these days, everyday seriously. I dun watch MTV anymore, i dun even buy any CDs anymore, i dun have an iPod, or MP3 player... sad but that's what married life has done to me, hahahah

If u are asking about non-children CDs in my car, i can think of the Quranic verses, like Surah Yassin, etc, which my wife wants to listen to...no joke there

seriously, no time to appreciate music these days..the only thrill i get these days is blasting up Awana/Genting on my Hypermotard on weekends

then again, i used to spend $$$ on the ICE in my car, i've spent up to RM20k on ICE in one of my ex-cars in the '90s...aaaahhhh, those were the days...

I remember u didn't encourage me to upgrade the software earlier? So far, I installed a multimedia interface, pioneer dvd player with FM receiver. All sound from DVD player are using a fixed frq (my is set to '88.7'). DVD sound is supperb but CD/MP3/USB sound are just like radio as you said. I even tried to use the DVD player's AUX to play my iPhone's songs and the sound was just unacceptable.

Do you think upgrading the software now can improve the sound quality?

Btw after upgrading the software, all e60 will have AUX in function or not? because i hve seen 2-3 E60 still not have Aux In even after upgrade to the latest software.

Did I not encourage you to upgrade the software?? Weird coz I had upgraded my software in 2008 (1 month after getting my E60). Most likely I would ask anyone here to do the software upgrade wor... hmmm!! miscommunication maybe :4:
And YES to your question... after upgrading the software to the latest one (I have no idea on which version is the current one) you should have "Audio Aux" sign in your Entertainment section. connect the MP3/USB player to the Audio Aux and you will have direct sound channeled to the speaker which improves the sound quality leaps and bounds. Also the software upgrade is not limited to the iDrive only but overall modules in your E60 :top: after the upgrade, you might feel overall improvement to your ride including the driving experience!

for mine, 07 pre-LCI, the audio aux port is located behind the centre armrest, near the AC vent.
For those without the audio aux functionality, maybe there is a need to connect it from the i-drive/radio using an external cable/audio aux port

Now i getting more confuse on radio FM freq. conversion

Called one shop in ampang that can do FM local station,they quote me rm550 for radio and package rm880 for radio and tv in motion. They said they used computer to reprogram the radio and takes only 1 hour to finish. Looks quite tempting until i call another shop in danau kota, they offer rm900 for radio conversion, but the procedure quite different. The boss said they not only updating the software but will replace the internal IC also and cost RM900. It takes 3-4 hours to complete.

So actually which one better? me getting confuse laa. bro thule and affan, which one do u guys prefer?

Yup both option cant save to memory at the moment.
btw, they also quote rm2400 for multimedia interface + gps. Rm400 for reverse camera

Just called peter, he give rm2350 for interface and reverse camera. For FM programing he said no need to change IC nowadays,just update the IC software. Rm950 for programming. Can be done in 1 hour.

Just to share my planning for the E60 for the ICE upgrade; I recently purchase a Jehnert direct replacement speaker kit from US, will try to get some times probably by next week to fit this into the car; heard tonnes of great reviews about this direct replacement where we do not need to cut the door panel and it fits into the factory location

Will update once done! Hope the result would be a positive one
