the hofmeister kink has been synonymous with BMW since the kink's debut in 1961, but it is by no means a design first coined by BMW. It is a signature back then to show that BMW is a rear wheel drive vehicle. It was first found on a Kaiser Deluxe Golden Dragon, in 1951. Guess it's a Kaiser Deluxe legacy.
