The committee have proposed to a local motor insurance company to organise a clinic for BMW Club members. Good news is that the company is keen to organise and fully sponsor the clinic for us.The clinic is serve to provide information and clarification on Motor Insurance ie:- Sum Insured- Loading- Excess - etcIt will oso touch on claim procedure - the how's and the what's.. The clinic would last about 2 hours including the Q&A question, after that dinner is provided free for all participants. We would like the gauge the response whether it's feasible for the clinic to be held on a friday evening or saturday evening. Clinic would start at 4pm and dinner at 7pm.Latest News:The clinic has been postponed from the initial date of 14 Oct 2006 due to some technical details and also the luke warm response from our members. The next proposed date is on 25 Nov 2006. Raya Open Houses would be over by then.

Great Idea! esp for those with little or no knowledge in insurance matters. Tembak all the Qs at them and have them answer all our woes as far as claims is concerned.

As an insurance professional before, I'll be there, too.

Would appreciate more details like venue, time, date etc ... in all likelihood might be at the insurance co's office.

Fri 4 - 7pm seems fine and can then buka puasa with our muslim friends.

Any other suggestions??

Cheers

Burn, I don't think there is any obligation to buy the insurance from the company.
The purpose of the Insurance clinic is to know more about Motor Insurance
in general. Most of us would not know what to do when we happen to meet
with an unforseeable accident. We usually leave it to the workshop.

If I am not mistaken, the insurance company is even willing to waive certain
"access" clause for the forummers who signed up with them.

I would say this is a good opportunity to shop around for better service
from the Insurance company.

A chance to know more about "Motor Insurance" plus "free dinner" plus "a chance
to meet old and new friends".. what is better than this???

BTW, Limited space is available.. So first come first served..

Come on sign up lah...

Most people in general do not have knowledge in insurance matters unlike our western counterparts. So it is a great time to gain some insight fundamentals of insurance and how it actually works, claims matters + of course free dinner.

It's good that we rely on our faithful agents to get all our insurance needs taken care off, they are always there to help us. But the irony is most agents themselves are unaware of the importance of providing the right cover according to the client's needs.

Eg., I hardly hear of agents promoting the all important 'Flood' cover (this cover is extremely vital for today's cars esp with electronics etc) and also a separate windscreen cover rather than lumping it all under the sum insured value.

Advantage of this clinic - Next time around, we can surprise our agents with the knowledge gained!!

Knowledge gained will be an invaluable asset ... !

The purpose of the clinic is to educate us as consumer. What are the common things of a motor policy? What are we entitled to?

A lot of us takes motor policy information for granted, just leave it to the agent. But we as consumer should be equipped of the basic knowledge especially when it comes to matters pertaining to claims.

Time and date yet to confirm depending on response...so please you guys out there the club is doing something for you now...so please respond ASAP, if not mistaken in order to make this happen we need at least 100 attendees...
ITS FREE............

Free talk and free food summore:D

However , need to know the date first lor...if on Weekends should not be a probs for me...unless my schedule being booked earlier...

Regards,

I'm trying to get the sponsor to accomodate for Oct 14 (Sat) 1 week before Hari Raya Puasa...
Looking at the calendar, that would be the best date. Knowing that during Nov, most ppl would be bz attending open houses on weekends.

So tentatively, it'll be on 14 Oct.. but will confirm once they get back to us...

i'm pretty ok with the insurance knowledge, can bring fiancee for the Q&A ah...? better benefit for spouses...
can.. Shud be ok with the sponsor

anymore???

I have checked with the organiser and he has proposed for all those attending the clinic to bring along a photocopy of your cover note. So that you can understand better how the figures relate to your own motor policy.

If you have had bad experience with insurance agent not handling your situation well, this is the time to clarify what is your rights as a motor policy holder. The organiser's participation in this clinic is only part of the equation, participation from the floor is equally vital if not more for knowledge sharing.

The more participants we have for the clinic, the more we can share our experiences in regards to motor policy.
