Roland1888 asked me an interesting question the other day - something about my age.
old_driver.gif
Could I humbly ask for an age based roll-call on 5 series drivers please. I know we have a poll on who drives what. So can I do one just for this particular series.Maybe start with age and car model/year.So let me start:33 - e39/2001 - Hails from PJ, Selangor and living in TTDI.Any takers on this? [btw, if this has been done before, forgive me as I could not find it...] :dunno:

5 series wat model...?

all e39 owners only ah?

me poor guy use e28 only ...can ah?

Yes SIR! Any 5 Series Model! 5'er United.... Old young new and old.

38 - E34 1990 will be upgrading to E60 in 2022..bcos then only can afford.

when i was 17, i was driving my dad's E23 728i.

Btw 18-20, i had an E28 528i.

From 21 years onwards, E34 525i :)

The 5 was trully my ultimate driving machine :) By the way, Im 22 now.

You guys are lucky. I got debts to settle! :getyourfactsright:

e34 1990 manual - age 38
Lives in Damansara Jaya. but born and bred in Ampang, KL!!

Had the e28 1984 when I was 31 and it was such a good allrounder that it prompted me to buy an e34 for everyday use and low dep etc. Ironically I'm still in touch with the guy who bought it from me. He bought an e32 735 - which means he must have liked the e28 and Now I'm tempted to buy the e28 back from him and modify it.!!

My father had a e23 728i manuel in the early 80's after 3 mercs (solid and nice), and 1 Jag (nice and ultra unreliable!!). It was the families first intro to bmws and was absolutely 100% reliable from new till 8 years old!!. Even today it is a quick car but in it's day almost notthing could touch it. I learnt to drive manual on that car and almost killed myself going at 160 without knowing it.

Alfter that he had a e34, 525i - when it was 6 months old I drove it up to Genting and gosh!! it was brilliant- handled more predictably than my MR2!!. That drive I told myself that one day I would own one and 15 years later I do and it still feels great:)

Also use to own a
age.
36-37: Alfa 168 Cloverleaf
32-36 : Porshe 944
31-32: Lotus Esprit Turbo
31- 38 (and going to keep it till I die prob!). Alfa GTV. classic.
29-31: Alfa 146
28-29 Golf GTI
27-28: Saab 900 Turbo
22-27: Toyota MR2 MK I - YUM!!
20-21 Honda Civic 1.3!! - YUCK!!

had a Ducati Monster superbike bet 31-35, would like to buy a Duc Supersport but none around

Wah! Respondees so far in 20s(!) and 30s. No 40s. 50s and 60s? Or is the internet medium biased towards a particular community age group only?

Interesting.

525iBoy - I am IMPRESSED! You never got married or what? All your cars are for singles only!

NOPE!! I never got married, never found the right woman!! ahh! hah!! but have not given up. :)

Almost found the perfect car!!.. it'll either be the Golf GTI or e28/34. seriously!!

My "old man" now has the new GTI turbo and though it may be fast and v. comfy it still does not have the handling balance of the original or. .for that matter the e34. He's also has a 2004 3.2ltr alfa 156GTA.

Yes the GTA is darn fast, but i'ts not balances and the steering gear ratio is too highly geared to "place the car" accurately. .. despite my cloverleaf 168 being an older design it was a better car to drive HARD!!... absolutely stable even at 200kmh but with tons of oversteer!!Thats why I went back to a bMW... love the 50/50 balance..

Also, the Air Con works! which is important when courting women. it was just too traumatic to see your date's make-up run in the Alfa 168 on a hot day when the AirCon just can't cope with our malaysian humidity. :nyehehe: :nyehehe:

that really really sick!!

when I was 18-21 I had the horrid old honda civic 1.3tr. absolutely NO power. Max sppeed 135kmph Downwind. UPwind it was 125km and in rain 120kmh..!! I kid you not!!

anyways I made up for it later with a list of higher perf cars!! kek!!

I suspect the profile will be:

most e30 and e35, : 20's and 30's
most e34, e39.: late 20s', to early 40's. most in 30's
e32, e38, early 40's to 50's.

probl for financial as well as comfort & family reasons.
