During the recent trip to Kluang, some of the 320d managed to go past 240 km/h. Maybe due to the presence of other mighty BMWs in the group :wink:Unfortunately it may not be safe to go past that number again. The OEM tyres in 320d is only V rated (max 240 km/h) - at least on the Bridgestones in my car (front: 225/45/R17 91V back: 255/40/R17 94V)The list below shows the tyre speed ratingsrating max speed L 120 km/h Off-Road & Light Truck TiresM 130 km/h N 140km/h Temporary Spare TiresP 150 km/h Q 160 km/h Studless & Studdable Winter TiresR 170 km/h H.D. Until then it will be better to max around 220km/h. Even at 230 km/h I can feel the tyres wobbling a bit especially at long corners.Be safe and have fun :top:

wow that means i can practically fly on my e90 coz my tyres are rated Z...how fast is that heheheh

Hold your horses young man! :) The Z rating is actually an older rating before the W and Y ratings arrived. It means rated for speeds in excess of 240kmh. That was because back then very few road cars could go faster than 240kmh. Now, practically all premiums and exotics can exceed that easily, so the W and Y ratings came along to denote 270 and 300kmh maximum speeds.

Z is now rather superfluous in tire markings. For eg, my new PS2s fronts are 225/40/ZR/18/88Y. The Z means they can exceed 240kmh. The R stands for radial, another superfluous marking. The Y means their max speed is 300kmh. If the 88Y was in parentheses (88Y) it would mean they have been tested above 300kmh and can exceed that speed. BTW, 88 is the max load rating, nothing to do with the speed rating.

i see...sohdesneh...well as if I cud go that fast anyways on Malaysian highways....the fastest i reached thus far is only up to 230km/h which was on the nkve at 6am but only a few seconds.....i still love my life wudnt wana risk dying on a 2005 e90 hehheee
