318i Gearbox overhall & wheel balancing/alignment

Dear sifu's1.) i just took delivery of my car from bomin auto after sending it for a full service, ive been having problems with my reverse gear (there's a 5-6 second delay before it kicks in, but theres no gear slip) i was told by Mr John Lai at bomin that my gearbox needs to be overhalled and its gonna set me back to 3,500 (RM) mark. So before i went forward with the job i thought it would be wise if i got some expert advice. mind you Mr John Lai did quote that he is going to send the gearbox else where to be overhalled..so i was wondering would any of you know where i could send it to else where to get the job done at a cheaper cost.2.) whats a good place to take my car in for balancing and alignment.Thank you.

So sorry to hear about your gearbox problem especially to your new delivered 318

Yeah, the GB overhauled will eat you about RM3000

i'm about to send my GB for rebuilding... like u.. my reverse only kicks in after 4-5 sec delay.. i've asked around from all over and yes the price is around 3k-4k depending on parts to be replaced, warranty as well as the one who's installing it...

i've decided to send it to my fav mech in kramat... at least i know that if he did anything wrong i can go back to him without any extra holes in my wallet...

ask for the mech to rebuild ur gearbox instead of a recond for u don't know the condition..

get at least a 6 months warranty.. this is what usually offered by the gearbox specialists... but a shop offered me a 1 year warranty ... of coz at a higher price..
