Guys, Need your help. BMW8055 was reported to have been bidded by 60 people, what is the significant of these numbers? Cheers
how many unique numbers are there for bmw owners? let's see for previous, current and probably future models. for classics, we have (isetta) 250, 300, 600, 700, 1602, 2002, 340, 1500, 1600, 1800, 2000, 501, 502, 503, 507, 3200 (total 16) for 1 series, we have 114, 116, 118, 120, 123, 125, 128, 130, 135 (total 9) for 2 series, we have 218, 220, 225, 228, 235 (total 5) for 3 series, we have 315, 316, 318, 320, 323, 325, 328, 330, 335 (total 9) for 4 series, we have 420, 428, 430, 435 (total 4) for 5 series, we have 518, 520, 523, 525, 528, 530, 535, 540, 545, 550 (total 10) for 6 series, we have 628, 630, 633, 635, 640, 645, 650 (total 7) for 7 series, we have 725, 728, 730, 732, 733, 735, 740, 745, 750, 760 (total 10) for 8 series, we have 840, 850 (total 2) total for classic is 16, modern (non classic) is 56. there are some forgotten and/or non-existent models (in malaysia) like the 315, 518 and 725. there're also some prototypes like 767 and 830 that didn't reach production stage. if we include all the "1" as the last digit for all modern designations (eg. 320 and 3201), sub total is classic 16 + modern 56x2 = 128. note - we may see a 340i to be launched in 2015 facelift of othe f30. 340 is a classic model too. we may also see a 240 or 440 when these models go thru facelift in 2017. so if we include "3401" and disregard 240 + 440, sub total is 129. if we include all single digits from 1-8, grand total is 137. then there's also model coding like e21, e30, e36 and so on + also bmw motorbikes but let's leave these out of the picture for a moment. so for selangor number plate series bmw 1 - bmw 9999, there are only 137 unique numbers for bmw cars. i wonder how much will these numbers be worth in 20-30 years' time. how much will a wealthy, feverish and probably superstitious petrol head be willing to pay for such numbers in the future?
In 20-30 years, BMW prefix No. Plate will be so rare that even nos. of the likes of 5354, 1346, 467 or 967 if put to market might just cause a mad rush... who knows!
