Just want to make sure.Btw, does anyone happen to have one lying around that I can buy?ThanksArmsP/S - AlpinaB9, thanks for the advice.

arms,

techniquely, it should be the same, same center bore, same PCD, same wheel fitment offset, so the hubs should be able to accomodate the larger diameter rotors

i believe there are already some e34s using the 750 setup

i'm curious to know why the E38 setup instead of the e32, as many parts are interchangeable between the e34 n e32, and e38 maybe abit way off.....

i think maybe the e32 setup would be a safer bet.
another headache would be the caliper setup and mountings to the spindle....

Thanks Teejay,

You are always very helpful. When we meet, pls remind me to buy you a drink. :) or a jug. :D

Yes, AlpinaB9 did mentioned E32 as the better option but mine now is 345 X 32. So E38 750 with 334 x 32 is closer than E32 750 which is just 302 X 28.

Btw, which workshop do you recommend to do this swap?

Thanks a lot
Cheers

no worries arms,

Thats's what the club is for, who knows maybe in the future i would be asking your help too!

make sense with your setup now.....

if its just a straight rotor change ,then i guess your regular guy would be able to do it

have you tried to order your M5 rotors instead of the 750 option?

Your are the MAN!!

Well, I am not actively hunting for rotor as changing the brake fluid last time already fixed the vibration problem. Furthermore, I just changed the anti-roll link bar, idle arm bush and control arm last week. It is perfect now.

The reason I asked is because I saw AlpinaB9 selling his E28 535i disc in classified. When I spoke to him he told me that I can use E32 or E38 750 as an alternative for my car, which is very good news. At least now I know I have an option in the future should my current rotor failed.

Anyway, I just checked, wast quoted RM200+ for the E32 disc amd RM600+ for the E38 disc. This is much better compare to the RM1300/pc for the M5 rotor.

cool news arms, it is you thats the MAN....!!

at least e34s can have options for larger brakes,i'm just inputing abit of my knowledge ......

it relatively easy to change the rotors as there is no need to bleed the brakes, just have to be careful when removing the calipers, try and get a piece of metal that is the same thickness, just to ensure caliper pistons dont get upset on the pressure to the rotors
maybe you could try and get a set and see if it will be ok, can just try one sideand see if it fits the hub proper.

i did read sometime back about e34 having asymetrical and symetrical hubs. this means that the hubs mounting hole position and mounting points must meet with the rotors,as the ones dont match up with each other

you will have to further check on this, there maybe 5 holes , but the mounting hole may not match the hubs to rotor

add to my hearsay....

i checked the parts catalog and it's the E32 that had the asymetrical and symetrical hub design, so with the e38, its kinda in proportion with the hub/rotor design of the bigger 5 and 7 series....

arms,
it's just you and me on this thread......i wonder where everyone else is.....

everyone else is conspiring on the relationship the two of you are having?? :D

learning by listening, i guess.

mr doggy 5 himself came out to sniff some stuff ya....!! :D
would be cool to have rotors fillling in your 18" right???..... :p

if youask me to write up on the mods....No way.

you all will go pening pening lalat...

all I know is..There is a new set of ATE powerdisc front rotors for sale.

why ah?

because you kene so many times still don't t learn ka?

perhaps if you don't reply too, some people will say you never share and never help......

help oso kene, don't help oso kene........how?

Teejay,

Yes. When fitting rotor, need to becareful about the 5 lubang. Some guy salah masuk lubang once and causes the disc to scrap against the caliper. That why after removing the wheel, they usually put back one lug to lock the hole so that it wont move.

Will be going to Wheelspeed tomorrow to try out the E32 disc since it is cheaper. But will try to get one to try out before buying. Hopefully they are willing to loan one.

As for the size, according to what I read, the hub height for E32 rotor is 76mm while E34 is 77.0mm. So what do you think? Can fit or not into E34? See pic

Naza2,

What relationship, no ship ship here. Just some guys who are interestes in "calipers". Both mechanical and "organic" :D

arms,
can you try and post the e34 setup, seems posible, but i need to look at the B,C values to make further assesment

B height is thickness, it wouldn't rellay matter, its just your wheel offset will be abit less

C is the internal hub size, if different, then you may have problems with brake caliper fittings, 1 mm is alot....

another would be to physically try and fit , even 1mm in the real world maynot or may make a very major difference

naza is sad, cause me gonna severe our "doggy" relation soon, but he will have alittle bro though!

internals measurements are the same, so it should fit in straight
into the hubs with no problems

you will need the mounting screw, the flat head type which is 1-2 mm shorter, keep your current one as its longer, and i don't suggest you cut them off either

good luck!

teejay, of course your 6 manual will be better.

arms... ur lovey dovey conversation makes me wonder. and now comes the 'organic' word.

ah hwang.. got discs but calipers are hard to find. almost impossible to find the 750 calipers. got lobang ah??

Organic caliper gotlah. Mana mana pun ada. Cina mali punya ada, Vietnam pun ada, Russia punya ada jugak :D

if you're talking about the oem 4-pot brembo brakes for the front, it will fit. done it to my e34 but sadly, oem brembo performance even for a 4-pot was no where near the performance 4-pot brembo kit on my e36. cost around rm2.5k plus installation and new discs and pads but better u save your money.

hitman,

could it be that weight differences of the e34 and e36 made the performance differ?
if both had the same specs, , i.e. piston size and length, brake line diameter, then it should have the same force on the rotors, but with due consideration of the moving mass of the car, it may not perform the same

perhaps maybe with a change of the rear brakes/calipers, will it then complete the braking system....?
