Maybe this is due to my pda phone being slow but another scenario is that when my pda does work, the navigation will be interrupted when a call comes in. Besides that, a dedicated unit tends to have bigger screen with large input buttons to allow quick input with minimum distraction. I am highlighting this simply because my pda (Samsung i780) has a relatively smaller screen and thus input while on the go can be quite fiddly. Now, considering the points mentioned, I am still very much attached to nuvi simply because i can get signal fairly quick and also the navigation is not interrupted when a call comes in. This is just my humble personal opinion and I hope my input is useful when considering your options. Cheers.
I wouldn't jump to conclusion which is better. I have both and my PDA phone takes quite a while to lock on to satelites. To me, it would mean that there are times when I would already reached my destination before my pda phone (with Garmin Mobile XT) actually starts working. Cheers. :)
