I am a non-detailer and certainly don't wax or polish my E90 as frequent as many of us. My last polish(verb) was using PG Polymer the week I bought the car, thinking of giving her a protective coat and that was..... wow! 7 months ago... back in December 2007.. darn... 7 months never polish/wax.. :( But I do make it a point to religiously wash her every weekend with PG Polymer based shampoo.. yet, I am happy with the shine (my standard la!) Removing bird dropping? Soft99 is I believe a polishing wax. Since wax is oil base, that's why it can do the trick of softening/removing tar and "fresh" bird dropping, but there are cases where the dropping left on car for too long as its acidic base and it erode the paint surface.. that's where u need to use polish(noun) to polish(verb) the mat surface caused by the dropping. My favorite polish(noun) is Meguiar ScratchX.. never fail to remove all my scratches, despite some not 100% because scratch too deep... :( See... "POLISH".. crap la. Cannot remove scratches.. but on top they got a fine print "car wax" la..
