Dear diesel bros,As the title suggests, would appreciate your opinions on the current B5. Reason of my asking is that I am on my first caltex b5 couple of days ago. Previously, i loved caltex for it's relatively raw 'get up n go' power compared to others. Petronas was my second choice for it's relatively quieter, smoother engine operationNow, with caltex b5, I do notice sluggishness in pick-up dept n mid range delivery. Any bros here hv an opinion? I know gameover commented there was negligible performance differences between the old stuff n b5 diesel but my butt dyno tells me otherwise.

Bro! If not mistaken the fuel cover there did stated this car (320D) not suitable for B5...Right..???? :burnout::burnout::burnout:

I own diesel pick up truck & with boost meter and other gadget on my truck that tell me B5 really sucks. Previously on Normal B7 diesel my boost cant reach maximum 1.6bar & on B5 diesel fuel, it maximun 1.3bar & damn sluggish........I wonder my soon to be (next week) getting my 530D will survive on B5 diesel.......??

BMW Malaysia has vouched that they have sufficiently tested B5 and certify it safe for our 320d, so that should not be an issue. Just that I find the performance differences a lot to be desired compared to pure diesel. A friend experienced the same. That where the old fuel was good, the B5 mix was dissapointing. He asked me to try BHP B5 next as he finds their's to be better compared to others. Anyone can share their experience?

Read this!! But I dont think B5 is good enough for us!! They wanted to promote B5 now so sure they said its safe!! The B5 distributer is Sime Darby!!

I also get to pump the B5 just this afternoon. It is really sucks!! Sluggish...no good no good!! If anyone know which station selling the petroldiesel, please tell us. Thanks. for the central region, they are already started to get in B5. Others state still got the normal diesel.

I guess as long as we r in the klang valley, no one is exempted from the use of b5. Question is, which brand gives better driving feel? I know caltex b5 is horrible compared to normal caltex diesel.

I like to drive in DS mode where traffic allows and the sluggishness is apparent when the pedal is floored. D mode response is worse when floored.

Any high milers there who have used multi brands for comparison?

I tried the b5 at caltex along jalan imbi. Did not notice much difference but better pick up. Probably due to my few previous tankful of petronas (in my past experiences, pick up on caltex better than petronas). On my next fuel up, wil switch back to normal caltex diesel. Probably next week (travelled close to 400km with half a tank left)

There still got normal diesel available in Klang Valley?

More and more switching to B5. The Jalan Gasing BHp i fill in is going to change over to B5 soon. I have not tried myself but do appreciate all views we can get. Thank you

It'll be like Mad Max 5 soon-have to travel across continents to find non-biodiesel pumps....

Just fuel up with regular diesel (Caltex). Did not notice any difference. Will run in another few days and update.

To add, the B5 diesel FC is the same. Slightly less than 15 cents per KM and full tank returns around 700km (80% or more city driving).

Agreed on the FC bit, no change but the energy output is noticeable. Maybe, sluggish is too strong a term but the response is noticeably hesitant on hard acceleration eg fast overtaking maneuvers - both D and DS mode affected. Let's hope my upcoming powerkit upgrade can mitigate this feel

Don't have to wait for a few days. Had to travel to Cyberjaya and Puchong for work today. Car more lively with Regular Diesel. Perhaps we should list down pumps still running on Regular Diesel for all to refer;

Regular Diesel
1) Caltex - Centre Point, Bandar Utama

When are you sending in your car for the upgrade kuntakite?

Resistance is futile. It's only a matter of time b4 the whole of KLANG valley is totally swamped. Looks like hv to get used to it from now. Darn!!!

My F10 520d fuel cap states no bio diesel and max B7... Maybe its just me but bio diesel is B5. B5 is ok coz max B7 but its bio diesel is a no no as stated in the fuel cap:dontknow:

BMW has since come up to affirm that b5 is safe for their diesel models sold in Malaysia, with warranty intact. But this does not deter from the fact that b5 diesel is below expectations. When can the darn govt understand that it's euro 4 that consumers n manufacturers r demanding, not some crappy stop gap alternative to justify their continued feet dragging on the issue.

Guys, I made a mistake. Today i managed to send my car for a wash at Caltex centre point (car not cleaned for 2 weeks due to work & too tired to self wash) & was chatting with d station onwer (Mrs.Ho). She said tat they have converted their diesel pumps to B5. The notice was above eye level so I missed it during my last tankful of refuel on thurs. The gud pickup i hv been experiencing last few days is frm B5 diesel. Now I am confused as ever. However for those still interested to find regular diesel, below is d latest listing courtesy frm tradingcrew;

1) BHP -Jalan Gasing
2) BHP -Jalan Templer
3) Caltex - Jalan Selangor (near Assunta hospital)
