If your car is in good electrical condition (e.g. no short circuit, fresh batt). Just make sure you lock the car with your key and NOT via your alarm remote control. You dont want the alarm to arm as it will suck your batts. If you leave your car on the street in a tough neighbourhood then you're outta luck. (disclaimer - i wont be held responsible to your car or its contents).edit:ps - little known fact: your E36 has a DEAD LOCK when you use your key to lock the drivers door. This means you cant unlock or open all doors from the inside!
