Once you add another 2 cylinders in the engine, the weight is considerably more and although the HP is more, its more or less cancelled with the extra weight carried (not considering more $$$ if properly endorsed by JPJ). M5 is a different story, its a different engine altogether.For example, the 530i has 231 bhp with straight six cylinder engine, and the 535i has 245 bhp with V8 8 cylinder engine. This results in almost the same power to weight ratio. Also the original 540i has the older ball type steering to cope with the engine weight, so the steering has less feel than normal 530i with the later technology steering.Last night came back from Kuantan, was smiling my way through the Genting area while climbing the hills with no effort in my M54B30 E39.
