Normally, the grid is maintained with a spinning reserved of about 20 to 25% to cater for unexpected  tripping of a power station. If the people want to conserve energy for 1 hour, then what you are doing is causing the grid to be inefficiency to operate. This is because it take more than one hour for some of the power stations to load down and up again. A power station cannot response to the fast change. Think of it like your kettle where it take time to boil water rather than your car where you can easily shift your gear to suit you need of power.To me this is a waste of time and resources. What people should have done to conserve energy is to set their aircon to 27 degC and take cold shower. In other country, people insulate their home to prevent heat from escaping. We can save energy by doing the reverse. i.e. insulate to prevent cold air from escaping thru the ceiling.How many of us are using energy saving bulb?How many of us are washing our clothes at one go rather than afew time?There are many ways to save the earth.</blockquote>
