If the recent spate of events haven't happened and reported in the local media, then I wouldn't give much attention to this overseas news article. But from the article, the way the Tourism Minister defended the incident is totally inline with how a few other head figures defended themselves or in other words cover backside. Shouldn't have openly defended the immigration department but instead instruct them to carry their task properly and professionally. The recent spate of events like the thigh voyuer at council meeting and throwing of blames on snatch theft victims are some of the events that irked the average jane and joe on the street. And if this is the culture the goverment wants to maintain, I don't think we would be going anywhere. they are more concerned with covering their backside rather than working for the people.
