Dear To All sifu's kindly need your advise about my transmission knock problem. When I slow down and about stop my e60 at traffic light or any corner. Its jerking like a car bang from behind. This only happen when the transmission change 2 -> 1. I already change my ATF oil. After change the ATF and Reset adaptive. Its was smooth for 3 weeks. No problem and smooth like a new car. After 3weeks its starting back the same problem again. I went service centre and they reset the adaptive again. Its was getting smooth again just for 4 days. Now starting back the same jerking problem and the knock getting worst. Any sifu can help me regarding this problem? Im staying at Bandar Sunway. Any recommended shop which can fix this?
Help really needed!!!!!!!!!!

Check your gearbox mounting buddy.
I remember my boss had the same problem on his E60..reset adaptation multiple times, didnt work.
Problem solved after new mounting was replaced.
Maybe yours could be the same problem.
Go to Exotic Automobile Service in Bandar Puteri Puchong, find for Vincent Tay (012-2967887)..nice guy..
His shop is rite opposite Public Bank.
Tell him Kumaran (that's me) introduced you.
Good luck.

The infamous ZF6HP19 auto trans jerking problem for e60 & e90. I can say it is very likely the 7 pieces mechactronics solenoids that are the cause of the problem.

Yes herbert u r right I have the same on my car e90 after change the solenoids no problem

Go to Bomin Auto or Bavarian Auto and buy the mechactronics solenoids (altogether 7 pieces about RM1.5k) You can go to PKL Motorsport (goggle for actual address) and ask them to replace it for you. OM subraoutra has just replaced the solenoids and believe his gearbox jerking problem is rectified now.

Herbert was right, all of us changed solenoid, jerking problem solved.. you can press your pedal anytime to speed up

So, this is a very common issue? Once change solenoid, how long does it last until the problem comes back?

Also bro Herbert, how long does it take to change the mechatronic solenoids? Is it a whole transmission down job?

I'm also experiencing this issue. Not all the time but so irritating when it happens. Thanks.

Alias,

Yes, it is a common problem for ZF 6HP19 auto transmission (e60 & e90). ZF has made improvements to the new mechactronics solenoids and hopefully with proper maintenance (i.e. replacement of AFT oil & filter) of the auto trans, this problem should be a thing of the past.

Not all the so-called BMW workshops are capable and have the relevant auto gearbox repair/service experiences. Some are only capable of replacing ATF oil & filter. Replacement of mechactronics solenoids is quite a relative simple job for the experienced workshop and takes about 2 hours. Gearbox need not be brought down, just hoist the car up, removed the ATF oil pan, then remove the mechactronics assembly.

Morning all,

My recent purchased a used CKD LCI e60. This morning i really felt what 'ganafania' was saying. Its jerking like a car bang from behind. But it only happen when the car is cold. After 5 mins. This behaviour will be gone. It this what you all felt? Or it happen all the time. I try to catch this behaviour and confirm before decide to get these 7 pieces mechactronics solenoids fixing route. Thx

:)

This is the initial symptom of degraded mechactronics solenoids. As time goes by, the jerking will be more serious & frequent. When this happened the iDrive may show "Trans Failure".

Thanks Herbert for the confirmation. Look like need to prepare myself to get this 7 pieces mechactronics solenoids replaced. BTW anyone have these part no of 7 pieces mechactronics solenoid. Try to compare price between boomin, BA and Sun Huat.

Hi all I have done my car as Herbert Advice. Now my car running as smoothie   .. Love the way its moving right now. :thrasher:
Done at PKL Motorsport at Kuchai lama.

Bavarian Auto Purchase (Subang)

8 Litters ATF - RM40 each * 8 = RM320.00
Solenoids - RM1430.00
Total = RM1750.00

PKL Motorsport Gearbox Repair Cost
Gear Socket = RM50.00
Labor Charges - RM600.00

Total Damage = RM2400.00

Ganabathi,

Good to hear that your car/auto gearbox is running as smoothie. Just remember to replace your ATF fluid and filter every 40k to 50 k km.
