:D hey guys..what do u all think about the new Swift? thinking of replacing my workhorse Kelisa and the Swift is on top of my list so far..its got looks,handling,4doors(important!!) and a reasonable price.. :yes!:

Yes, its a very spunky looking car & very desirable! Only thing is, in other markets, its priced to compete with the Daihatsu Sirion aka Perodua Myvi!! Due to the infamous import duties, its unfortunately priced so high in comparison.

the swift is well built and nice to drive. It comes in auto only tho. but 80++k for a sub compact....this is the cancer of Malaysia boleh. I'll keep driving my old jalopy.

Dude, get that car....is so nice and fun to drive dude! Believe me....u will not regret of getting of of this Jap car.....hehehhee....good luck! :D

I test drove the 1.5L auto in Melbourne 2 weeks back. Thinking of getting it for my wife. Very nice car....nice interior, 'wide body' like mini. The manual is only going for A$15,990 here. Unfortunately, we'll not be getting the GTi model here...at least not so soon.

Boot space is definitely bigger than the Mitsubishi Colt. It's comparable to the Jazz only cheaper. The multi-function steering is pretty sassy. Go for it!

there is a reason why the swift is so fun to drive....if i am not mistaken the MyVi came with 80nm torque whereas the swift packs 130nm.

AUD15k, now that's a good price more reflective of what the car is worth.

A SWIFT INCREASE IN SALES DOWN UNDER
With its good looks, and long list of standard features and equipment the Suzuki Swift has taken the light passenger car market by storm, both in Australia and internationally.

The highly acclaimed hatchback has been a key factor in the rising number of new Suzuki cars sold in Australia.

An impressive 2,078 units have been sold since its release in February, with Suzuki achieving an increase in new car sales in Australia of over 63 per cent compared with results issued at the same time last year.

Each month the Swift has far exceeded Suzuki’s expected target of 350 units, selling a total of 610 vehicles for the month of May and again outselling the Mazda 2, Ford Fiesta and Mitsubishi Colt.

The car is also proving a sensation in the burgeoning Indian car market where 9,000 orders were placed for the new Swift prior to it going on sale on June 6, 2005.

India’s major car manufacturer, Maruti Udyog, which is 54.2 per cent owned by the Suzuki Motor Corporation, sold an amazing 15,000 new Swifts in the first week- a first in the automotive history of India.

The company’s initial plans were to sell between 4,000 and 5,000 Swifts a month but demand suggests sales in the first year for India may now top 50,000 units.

A special version of the Swift has been developed specifically for the Indian market, featuring a 1.3 litre engine. The car is manufactured in India with a high local content of 86 per cent.

The Swift is one of the most technically advanced cars to be introduced in India, and comes standard with anti lock brakes and air bags, features that are unheard of in small cars in India.

The roll out of the Swift marks the shortest gap between the launch of a new vehicle in Japan and in emerging markets.

When production starts soon in the fast expanding Chinese economy, the Swift will be manufactured in four countries. Swifts sold in Australia will continue to be sourced out of Japan.

The Swift is priced from just $15,990 and comes standard with a six speaker in dash CD stereo system, easy to operate audio system controls mounted on leather steering wheel, air conditioning, electric mirrors and windows, power steering, remote keyless entry with hazard lamp answer back, a centrally located information display showing time, fuel consumption and temperature, UV reducing glass, dual front SRS airbags and ABS brakes.

An S model Swift is also available and includes alloy wheels, fog lamps and side and curtain airbags for an additional $2,000.

The Suzuki Swift comes with Suzuki CustomerCare, providing customers with peace of mind via a three year/100,000km warranty and three year 24 hour roadside assistance.

With new models on the horizon and the popularity of the Swift growing, Suzuki expects its successful sales to continue through the year.

This little moster packs 133NM of max torque.

didi u drive nice car give your wife a jap..hahah..
looks like a mini wannabe..
No lah. The Swift is actually for me. Cannot afford the real MCS, so settle for Swift lah. Hahahah....really need a fuel economical car with petrol prices soaring to A$1.23 a litre. So far, the Honda Jazz wins hands down with 5.7l/100km consumption.

should be getting the swift next week, red one la...

salesman says that the manual launching next month...
manual should be fun, but thinking about the traffic in KL...
forget it la....

GTI to debut in next month's Frankfurt show. No reason why they won't bring it to Oz, given how well the standard one is there as well the cult following that the previous GTI has.

Here's hoping that it will come in for around RM100,000.

wah, manual non-GTI coming in as well? Might be worth thinking about eh..brand new 5-door supermini with decent performance for around RM80k. Premier version with 17s look bling too.

Bmchai, I commute to KL every day from PJ, and after too long with shitty autos (including the BMW's), I'm now more than willing to put up with the manual just so I can ride on the lower gear entering and exiting corners.

Note twin pipes, just like the Concept-S (err, the concept car which Swift borrows styling from). Concept's ones are of course more radical, as they look like superbike cans.

:eek:k: wahh!! manual one coming next month?? hey thanx for the update man!!! the only thing i didn't like about the Swift was the 4speed auto..
now a manual shud be cheaper right? went to see the car juz now..good build quality, nice design and the rear seats folds too!!!! handy for trips down to IKEA.. didn't drive it though..all the mags are giving good comments on the driving aspect so i think its a done deal but will wait for the manual la.don't really need an auto cuz i live in Sepang..no traffic jams!!(except F1 week la..).

Think this model is kicking ass in the Junior WRC ..but thats with turbo power :D :D :D

JWRC got turbo one ah?
are they using the new swift chassis aledi, they were using the Ignis sport when I last saw it on TV.

Car name: Suzuki Ignis
Engine: 4 inline cylinders
Power: 206 HP at 8700 rpm
Torque: 180 Nm at 7250 rpm

These figure suggested a high power NA engine, not a turbo'ed 1.6.

Ya la...apparently the salesman told me in july manual tranny launching in August....fark, now august they say postponed to Sept....farking car salesman cannot believe one....

cant wait la...sentra sold already so get the auto lo....

manual should be cheaper la....78K perhaps?

still need the e46 tho, to store the VCD's.....swift boot small....
