is it just me or everyone else's streamyx connection is as slow as &%#! ? i'm gettin like 5KB/s average download rates which is far from their advertised rate of 1Mbps or 125KB/s and this is gettin unbearable & annoying. for rm88/mth = rm3/day or rm1/hr if u use your connection for 3 hrs/day, we deserve something better than this shit...

I just tried loading www.tm.net.my and it's taking ages to load. :/

I've given up on TMNet so I route all my traffic through a private server on Jaring Datacenter which I'm sharing with a friend. The only time I ever encounter any issues with speed is when TMNet screws up.

Try calling their tech support and lodge a report. I know it's frustrating at times but the only thing you can do is let them know the problem exist so hopefully they'll have a look at it.

Just do the speed test 3 (can't load the TMNet website so I can't provide you with the URL) times and jot down each of the results you get, then call the tech support and give them the numbers. If they ask you to do a direct connection (only if you're connected through a router) just tell them you've tried already.

Number to call is 1300-88-9515 followed by options 2, 1, 3.

Good Luck!

that's the whole point of posting in this public forum...they should be smart enough to reach this thread and improve from there, afterall they are one of our nation's largest telecom/IT company. try to google 'streamyx' and you will find 2 things...the links advertised by tmnet & the rest are all complaints...

aint gonna waste my time with their hopeless helpline

Yup, they published this in major newspapers recently. Therefore, do not hope much in the connection speed :) Time to change perhaps?

A shorter number is 100 and select Internet and Streamyx. Do it from your fixed line.

20/12/2008 SERVICE INTERRUPTION

Dear Valued Customers,

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wishes to announce that there is a disruption of its Internet services due to circuits fault on Southeast Asia - Middle East - Western Europe 4 (SMW4) submarine cable network between Palermo (Southern Italy) and Alexandria (Northern Egypt) linking Malaysia to Europe. Due to this, customers using Internet services may now experience slow browsing while accessing websites hosted in Europe.
In addition, customers using other IP services such as Virtual Private Network (VPN) and other critical business applications linked to Europe may also experience some service degradation.
To alleviate the problem, some of the links have been rerouted to alternate routes to ease the congestion.
Restoration works on the affected cables are already in progress. However, in the restoration process, traffic to Northern America may experience minor degradation while traffic to other countries is not affected. TM expects the complete recovery of its services by December 31, 2008. TM will make further announcements on the progress of the restoration works.
TM wishes to assure its customers that it is undertaking all necessary measures to restore communications services for its customers as soon as possible.
Customers can call TM at 100 and select “Internet Services” or e-mail us at help@tm.com.my for any Internet related problems.

Thank You.

Jaring 56k dial-up is quicker than my 1M corporate Streamyx line.. I'm on 56k 1511 Jaring prepaid dial-up now.. 4sen/min, expensive but fast!:top:

Im trying out WiMax...also a cheaper option for me since I dont need/use a land line which is mandatory for streamyx..

Bro your corporate line shared by how many people? The downstream and upstream test seems about right?

From what I know, certain ISPs have got better international traffic routing so their latency to major countries like the USA is better compared to TMNet. Personally I believe TMNet's infrastructure is overloaded. Maybe if they spent a little more money upgrading we might have better internet?

Heh I still remember the days of mIRC and that familiar buzzing of the modem doing the connection handshake...LOL.
