Steering Wheel Going Eekk Eeekk!

Guys,I dun really know how to describe this... been searching the forum on the steering rack issues but mine is not leaking... just that at low speeds, when i tilt the steering lightly from left or right, can get the eeek eekk sound...irritating la... got let Kenny from M Sport check but dun seem to be able to fix any of the problem... the noise went away for a few days and then came back a few weeks later.Just that sometimes when the car is quiet, after turning, got ppl in the car can hear lo... malu sikit :46::46:

Recently I had the same noise problem. You need to flush & replace steering fluid oil and the oil reservoir with built-in filter (RM62.00 from Bavarian Auto). Steering fluid is ZF Long Life (same as transmission oil) at RM50.00 a litre from BA.

i also got this problem. when the car is moving and try to turn to left or right i can hear the eekk ekk sound also. till now not slove yet. power stearing fluid also normal.

How much did it cost you to fix it?

Can't remember, it was few years back, but I think I remember the stupid hose was something like RM150+ or something. Probably different for your E39 though.

Not sure related or not. A few months back, me and another e36 driver have this eekk eekk sound when ever the steering and allow to center while going straight. It turns out that the grease of the contact for the steering wheel to the boss kit is wearing out. Took out the steering, put grease on it and the sound is gone. Hehe. 10 min job.
