Hey guys,I'm taking my 116i delivery very soon, and was just wondering if a steering lock will be required to prevent theft? What sort of security measure do you take to prevent theft? Many thanks, cheers.

It won't do much help because no point of getting your BMW without its electronic coded key. If they want your car, by hook or by crook, they have to get it from U, with or without your permission :D

All my other JDM have a RM19.90 steering lock. It just send a message to the thief telling them to pick on another easier JDM.. :D

Seldom see a newer UDM with a steering lock. The reason is that newer UDM cannot be start without the electronic coded key.. However, you can use the steering lock to hit somebody or defence yourself if you decide to buy one.

None of the steering locks fit my 120i. I even gave away my yellow color RM200+ lock for airbag steerings (can't remember what's the brand). So now there is no steering lock. Anyway, nobody will curi the 1 series coz not much demand, hee hee!

Those BM cars c/w electronic coded keys no need to use steering lock one lah, they cant steal but hijack.

Yaloo... the 120i comes with extra thick leather steering... sounds fun to hold for the ladies.. opps.. :D now I know why..

I have the same question in head just like you, Quikflyer. I haven't bought one yet. But I believe the steering wheel lock can fit 116 steering wheel cos no leather wrapping.
