Sounds good, I am contemplating if I should soundproof my E90 diesel as well. But I know KL Auto does a good job, sent my other cars to them previously.

I was told that after sound proofing.. your 320d will sound like petrol car...(interior cabin)...
Can anyone share their experience who has sound proofed it?

Hahaha.. actually it is not really all that bad. I can understand why you ask me to save my money :D it is just a thought if it is not expensive.. hahaha!!

Cheers.

Boy will you be delighted to see when the new diesel engine debuts in the F30. Improved performance with better fuel efficiency and runs quieter! To witness the new diesel engine in action, check out the X3 LCI which debuted here recently.

I had soundproof my 320d, but not with Autofoam. The soundproofing uses a combination of deadeners and sound insulator foam sheets for the doors, boot and bonnet with Stp Mastic on all the wheel wells.

It sure does make a great difference compared to the bare minimum sound insulation on the F30.

Actually I've stood beside the Panamera diesel and even Cayenne diesel, the F30 sounds so bloody crude. If I were to do a blind test, I wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between a Hilux/Ranger/Triton and the 320d.

I really hope the LCI gets quieter and that BMW do something about the soundproofing.

Can't compare to the Porsche man, you are paying >RM600k for the car so its not a fair comparison. Also the damn Cayenne Diesel S sounds awesome especially the exhaust note. AB Glenmarie, the BPS building has a couple of Porsche which are Pre-owned there for sale.

I drove a x1 diesel courtesy car for 1 day, it's significantly quieter than 320d, engine note is barely intrusive into cabin, almost same level as 520d. Bmw should really improve f30 noise insulation, even petrol engine injector noise can be heard inside a 328i cabin...

Yeah I went for a test drive a couple of weeks back and yes, the X1 20d is quieter than the 3-series. Sad but true. I am very curious to know what exactly are the differences. Is the X1 CKD as well?

Yes bro X1 is CKD as well as the X3 and X5. I think something went wrong when BMW designed the NVH for the F30...try turning on your radio on decent volume, get out of your car and close the door and be prepared to hear your radio sound seeping out from your car. I was shocked when I found this out since I was wondering how come I can hear a lot of outside environmental noises when I was driving so I tried this method to check.

Perhaps it is BMW's intention to keep the engine note seeping into the cabin? 3 series is meant to be a sports sedan so a muted engine roar is quite a deviation from their tradition.
