I know I know this has been asked before etc etc but humour me......just took the plunge and got meself 15in rims and cant wait to put rubbers on ....the question is:- what rubbers?; and- what size? (size matters of course) (by the way rims are 7jx15)Advice has ranged from 205/55/15, which tho rare is worthwhile as has the best girth- but there have also been recommendations for:195/55/15195/60/15205/50/15Just wunderin what the relative pros and cons are fur each size.....Recommendations on brand of rubbers are also welcum - presently interested in Toyo's (prolly vimode etc. T1S unlikely to be available in this puny size), Yoko's (ES100'S), Falken's (ST115s, GRb - dunno whteher grb available in this size), and Kumho's (ok nobody start orait! KGals are world standard, their tires shud be up to par too...Ecsta Supra 712s are hoped for)....Thanks guys!PS(S):Master Elwine, as promised, I shall be able to return your beloved set of bottlecaps in return for the ones we swapped earlier (pssst...set of 4 good cundition 14in bottlecap rims for sale! with tires too Turanza ER60s)

i have only used the first 2 sizes you mentioned.the first offers better acceleration coz they have smaller diameter of course. The shorter sidewall also helps at corner, u feel it's stiffer. On the other hand, the smaller diameter makes your car very low....i always 'sagat' the speedbum and has to go sideways over those bumps. Now, I'm on the 2nd size and this thing never happened again. On tire brand, now im using the ES100, great in wet condition, overall i'm more satisfied now as compared to when I was using Potenza RE711.sorry can't comment on the 3rd size...never use, but IMHO wider is better (true only on dry)....i think cornering in wet will be worse than the 1st two since bigger tire surface touching the wet road from side to side....just plain physic i think.

I am a fan of the Goodyear F1 series. Latest model is the GS-D3 that you see being advertised quite a lot these days. For 15 inch rims, size is limited to 195/55 and 195/50. More choices for 16 inch and above.Am using 195/50 for my front and 195/55 for rear for my e21. Not by choice, the 195/55 kept hitting my fender/wing. 195/50 cured that. The ideal size for my e21 would have been the 205/50, i.e., plus2 from the standard 185/70 x 13.Yours will be a plus one size increment - use the tyre size calculator found elsewhere on this board. The key thing about upsizing is to maintain the diameter of your tyres so that your speedometer reading is accurate. Otherwise, it will read slower or faster than actual. Might create problem speed traps etc.

The correct sized tyre that you should be considering is 205/55/15 which is what ALPINA, HARTGE & ACS utilised on their E30s. This is the ultimate sized tyre for this model as it offers the best compromise interms of ride and handling; you will actually get both; depending on your tyre choice. If in doubt, contact elwine30 for a test session..............hehehehe

ohhh elwineeeee....where art thou elwine?......

Yes, have to concur that 205/55/15 is the correct size to go as recommended by the books....However, tyres in this size dun come cheap.......ask Elwine-loh as well....

yes,my name is being called.I have being using 205/55/15 on my ride for a few months. I have driven in town, outstation to north (up to Alor Setar). My verdict ?it's a all round tyre which gives you comfort, performance and looks. The tire fits just nice into your arch and the tire looks full on th car. The 55 series provide comfort in your ride and the 205 give you the grip on dry.I have not being attending TT due to work committment and family. However, this friday would be good day for me attend. So, let's meet up Jip.

They are an old design.....7jx15 Mille Miglia 8 spokes - u cannot find them on the Mille Miglia site anymore. Its sort of 'deep dish' with a polished inside lip of about half inch deep (mabbe more :) )...check out the rims in the following link:http://website.lineone.net/~g27build/g32index.htmApparently they (the rims) were standard fit on the Ginetta G32......ginetta(!?)...UK low volume manufacturer e.g. bristol.Shaiful...bet u didnt know that :)Elwine...I got it from Shaifulo...very attarctive price/arrangement.Weight isnt the best but value and cundition of rims were to my satisfaction. How will it look like? Should be good....the Ginetta and the E30 are similar in a way...boxy/wedgy......

Jipster & Shaifulo,Happy the rims found a new home! Glad I was of some help in this instance - I think...Jules

Must agree with Kevster. 205/55/15 will preserve your speedometer accuracy as well. Try using this handy calculator. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.htmlYour 3 series is not the most grippy of cars but it sure is one heckova fun car to chuck around corners. 205/55/15 will not only give you comfort but will also allow you to go sideways with lotsa early warning and feel before traction is totally lost. A lower tire profile will give you more grip but will also tend to break away suddenly at the limit without due warning and give you a nasty surprise. Not so much fun in such a fun car in my opinion and does not suit the cars character.

jip, yeah i did not know that ;) thanks for showing that pic.....how on earth u found the link?again, i advise u to refurb those wheels & get the lips polished...trust me u would thank me later
