Yikes, your rear suspension develops a problem. Take it to your dealer. Nitrogen pressure "bomb" may have worned out prematurely. Or hydraulic problems to the self leveling suspension.

These things tend to last for a few years but then an X5 is pretty heavy.

abit off topic here, but E34Touring, do u have self levellling on yr car?
Had mine replaced( power steering pump, and 2 rear shocks ) at almost US$2100
and this was in Newport. It would prob cost like double or triple here.
One question tho, isnt ther some sort of regulator under the car that maintains/regulates
amt of hydraulic fluid between the pwer steering and the shocks.
And does yr car rise alittle when u start the car?
