Ya so many ppl got this. Even my car has this problem. SA promised to look into this for me once there is official notice frm BMW.

Bro. On the day I collected my car approx 1 month ago, I already highlighted to SA and she already promised to get the frame changed. The frame should arrived Malaysia within 4-6 weeks. Just looking into it and wait for official notice from BMW Malaysia ain't enough!!! I also showed her other 3 series in showroom which is also rusty. Not prevalent in 5 series or CBU units though!

I beg to differ. The 2 CBU 328i Luxury and 1 320d CBU in our fleet have the same rusty seat hinge issues (among other issues - knocking sounds from absorbers/steering, wiper issue and squeeky brakes). Pending a final solution from BMW MY for the rust ABKL cleaned the rust off, replaced the wiper control unit and resolved the knocking sounds. So far touchwood the issues haven't reappeared.

That just goes on to show that not only CKD units are having issues. The major problem is ALL units are prone to issues, and tons of them. It sounded like 'a shot in the feet' to me :)

Btw, what are the consequences of this issue if left unattended?

I saw the rusty frame under the seat one day when cleaning the interior, figured that it's not exactly a big deal breaker for me. Not some place I'd be utilising but does raise minor concern when things accidentally dropped underneath, sticking my hand in to reach for it would be a concern.

just some updates.

AB JB told me both seat frames already in from Germany for me to do the exchange.

sad to see such marque with the simplest minor quality issues ... maybe their manufacturer is cutting cost without the anti rust coating sprayed ..

how did they fix the knocking sound? My wiper is having issue as well :(

I just only checked mine yesterday and, low and behold, my nightmare was confirmed. The underneath of both my front seats are indeed rusty. Darn.... I have now officially joined the group of people that has rust issue. Sigh.
Now I am really pissed...this is the lowest form of QC (or lack of it) I have ever seen, more so from a premium brand like BMW.

JPB, any luck on whether you are able to escape this "unwelcome" norm?

Bro. Better send in SC asap. I got my car mid oct and only yesterday (SC) confirm can change in mid Dec.
SC says it takes 4-6 weeks to arrive from Germany.
