Found More Info! A little google goes a long way... 05-10-2007: AmAssurance eyes 20% growth in general insurance By Lim Shie-Lynn AmAssurance Bhd is targeting a 20% growth in general insurance premium for its year ending April 30, 2008 on the back of its strategic partnership with IAG International Pty Ltd, said its corporate communications and marketing department head Alex Tan said. He said its motor insurance contributed 70% to its total premium size which was close to RM500 million annually. "Although we are one of the top motor insurers, we are in an aggressive mood to grow our life and general insurance sectors." "We are launching two new (life insurance) products this year. The first would be launched in mid-October once Bank Negara has approved (it) and the other would be launched in December," he told reporters after the launch of the group's road safety campaign here yesterday. Tan said AmAssurance had partnered IAG to launch products such as the extended warranty programme (EWP), which gives auto warranty beyond coverage offered by car dealers or manufacturers. AMMB and IAG are shareholders of AmAssurance, with interests of 70% and 30%, respectively. AmAssurance's business is generated from its comprehensive range of life and general insurance solutions through 200 banks and branches serviced by its 5,000 representatives in the country. Meanwhile, AmBank group chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim said AmAssurance was allocating RM1.5 million in its "Drive Safely. We Care" campaign, which is organised in partnership with the Transport Ministry and Road Safety Department. He said road safety activities would be carried out at PLUS's North-South highway's Rest and Service Areas — Tapah, Gurun and Pagoh. "With this two-month long campaign, 100,000 motor vehicles will be tagged with AmAssurance's "We Care" tag which will carry road safety messages and other important details of the nation wide road safety campaign," Azman said. Of the RM1.5 million, the group will allocate RM1 million to subsidise the printing costs of 10 million road tax discs which displayed police and ambulance and fire department emergency numbers. http://www.theedgedaily.com/cms/content.jsp?id=com.tms.cms.article.Article_6ee0c9f3-cb73c03a-6798eb00-22fcfa47 NOTE: Article fails to mention the "hubungi kami untuk insurans motor dan kediaman anda" thingy complete with contact numbers, which still makes it an advertisement. The RM1 million subsidizing is merely the buying of ad space. Now the contrasting view - Article and tax stickers also have a safety message as well as contact numbers for police, ambulance and fire brigade, making it similar to a public service announcement. In effect: it looks like an ad, seems like an ad, but may not be an ad... correct correct correct?
