Hello everyone, i am a new member to the BMW club Malaysia, i own an E-36, and last year my wife and i bought a gorgeous E-90. i have always loved music and have a pretty decent set up in my old E-36. My wife has recently caught the ICE bug, and wants to upgrade the stock music system in her E-90. I am a little apprehensive as i have learned the hard way about expensive mistakes previous ICE dealers have made with my old car (blew my Genesis amp, wired polarity reversed many times, denying all wrong doing... and it goes on..).So i would like to be a little cautious with the newer E-90. Does anyone have any good experience with any dealers in KL or PJ area with regards the above? I hear wonderful things about Tecnichi, but is there anyone else out there who will do a decent job and not harm the car? I really do appreciate any feed back. You could also e mail me at balinkl@gmail.com or my hand phone number is 012-3058090.Many many thanks in advance.Warmfires.

technichi? make sure you have a healthy bank account :)

Thanks Affan66,
so i have been told by others. Someone suggested a place in Damansara Utama, let me check it out and i will post some feedback for others who need similar information.

But thanks for the heads up. I just spent a whole lot of mulah on home hi fi, so a healthy bank account is now in a questionable state. ''Am i healthy...'' it asks me.

''No way Hozay'', i replied.

Maybe I know your so-called PLACE in Damansara Utama :D actually I got all my ICE done in DU itself. I won't dwell much into which shop and where. But if u wanna know, PM me and I will tell you in details ok?
Don't wanna kena cakap that I try to promote certain place pulak in this forum... but may I say that you have to leave your car to the expert who know what to say and what they are doing.. not necessarily the cheapest place to go but one of the tidiest shop that I've ever been. The boss is very knowledgeable too :top:

bro warmfires,

I see u play home hifi system as well? Care to share yr home hifi system set-up? I play home hifi too...already spent a fortune so now im just enjoying the system and no plans for any upgrade.

Tell us abt this shop in D.Utama, shop name? What brands they push? Ask them how they plan to set up yr system without disturbing yr iDrive. Make sure they hv installed BMWs with iDrive before, bcos u definately do not want to go to a novice.

As for me, I use Klasse Audio located at KL near Tawakal Hospital. The person to see is Mr. Kho, a great guy wo has handled ICE for nearly 20 yrs.

cheers.

A friend retrofit bluetooth to his 2005 E60 and the technician fried his iDrive, warranty void because done outside of SC and cost him RM30k to put in a new iDrive.

Just a word of caution. :smokin:

Don't be afraid to share!

thule,

It would be good for u to share the shop's name. You don't have to be worried that 'someone' may kutuk u bcos u support or promote a certain shop, bcos if everyone takes a stance like u, not wanting to mention the shop's name, then what's the use of a public forum, when you can talk but can't give details. Just as long as we are clear abt our conscience, that the purpose of sharing is for the benefit of members & forumers and not for self-profiteering, then we are all clear.

Sharing makes it easier for everyone here to make their own evaluation & judgement.

So i hope you can share the shop's name and especially, your car hifi set-up. I am sure you have a lovely system. A question on yr nickname, do u work for 'Thule' or do u have a Thule car rack system?

Cheers.

You can try Kelvin (CN Audio) in Sec 9 Shah Alam, Lau (KK Lau) or Ah Bee (in SS2). This are well experience installer that can advice you base on your budget and requirement

Hello gilajazz

the shop name is CV Audio and they have a few branches in Klang Valley but I frequented the Damansara Utama outlet. My story is simple... I knew nothing about BMW before I bought my first E60 back in Oct 2008. It was a pain-in-the-ass process, as I did a lot of research before committing to own a JOY :D once I got my ride, the first thing was to fix the problems associated with Japanese spec E60. So I went to a few reputable shops.. spent time talking to the person-in-charge and asked a few simple but important questions regarding the ICE.
To cut my story short, CV Audio was the last shop that I went to... but the knowledge of Peter impressed me. And I encountered software upgrade problem (not going to say much here but it was messy and ugly due to a cartain workshop thank-you-very-much :thefinger:). However, it was solved finally and I don't even know if the matter was settled amicably
His work was great.. I practically stayed there during the whole process where they installed the Interface, reverse camera, Kenwood DVD/MP3/USB player! The wires were organised and well-hidden from the naked eyes. I was a happy man in the end
I still keep in touch with Peter from time to time.. and he even fixed some minor issues without any charges. I am waiting for him to change the radio frequency for me (should he buy the 30k++ machine in the end)... and thinking of installing a 4-way amplifier + 2x 6" speaker to make my music experience more enjoyable
So there's my story...

P.S: By the way, I used to work for Thule for a few years from 2002-2005! Now I'm back to help with my dad's business :D love the nick so just used it (hope they won't sue me)

Hello everyone,
it's been a while since my last post. This is because it took time to get my wife's car done up. i would like to share my excellent, excellent experience, but wanted to wait for it all to be over first.

we went to CV audio, and spoke to Peter there. Please understand, that peter and i have nothing to do with each other. My wife and i are just happy customers sharing our experience. Take it or leave it, we do not intend to do anything but share some good experience. That is all.

We spoke with peter, suggesting we wanted to upgrade the front speakers, add an amp, and upgrade the subs under the seat as well. peter was gracious and shared his experience, suggesting we just add a 5 channel amp, change the front speakers and use my old MB Quarts for the rear parcel. It was a bummer for me to learn that the front speakers for the E90 only fit 4 inch woofers, and there is no place in the kick panels to mount larger speakers!! Plus my wife did not want a sub box in the booth, plus she wanted everything to look 'stock' without alterations.

Peter worked with the car over the next 6 weeks, giving us the space and time to listen, re-evluate, swap components, re-listen. When we could not find suitable subwoofers for the underseat stock subwoofers, he suggested we bring them in from Earthquake, pointing me towards internet forums that spoke about the good AND THE BAD of these speakers. All invoices were shown to me, so i knew how much his cost and mark up was. Incredible.
Plus he never asked for a single cent upfront during this time. We paid the bill in full only at the end, when we were happy with the sound.

I did not know people like peter still existed. I have become so impressed. He was ever willing to listen to my suggestions, and use cheaper components and let me be the one who decides if i like the sound, or to go for the more expensive ones. He is a far cry from any other ice dealers i have been to, by a mile.

Oh, and he is not expensive.
I have already recommended him to very close personal friends.

Pete's Car Audio and Accessories. 40, Jalan 19/3, Petaling Jaya, 46300 Selangor. Contact No: 0192187996. Still as patient as ever.

Yes.. He informed me that he'd moved to section 19.. Same row with Nanking Vegetarian Restaurant near previous Rothman roundabout. It was the rental issue as the shop owner wanted to increase by a high margin. Cut story short.. He found this shop at lower rate and parking was easier too compared to the notorious Uptown. True enough, I went there once and the shop was more spacious and the road is wider than the previous one.
