Its about time to look for a new set of tyres for my ride so was wondering if anyone has any experience on any of the below tyres. Your opinions and reviews appreciated. Feel free to recommend other good tyres too but keep in mind I'm on a budget, most prob $400-500 per piece at very most. I'm using 235/45/17 size. I'm looking for a good balance between good handling, comfort and durability. Oh its for my E34. Tks.1) Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD32) Bridgestone Potenza GIII3) Falken Azenis ST1154) Dunlop Sport FM9015) Dunlop Direnza DZ101Feel free to recommend any other tyres.....

1) Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 - Good Allround tyre but poor wear rate. First 50% is excellent, very noisy for the remaining 50%

2) Bridgestone Potenza GIII - Quite good in the dry, lousy in the wet. again, quite noisy as it wears down.

3) Falken Azenis ST115 - Excellent dry grip, impressive in the wet, firm ride and high wear rate but pretty quiet for a sports tyre.

4) Dunlop Sport FM901 - forget it

5) Dunlop Direnza DZ101 - forget it

* These observations are based on personal experience, so it's ok to disagree with me*

For an E34, I would recommend the Michelin MXV8s. I assume that you are not a hard/aggresive driver, these tyres should provide you with the balance of grip, comfort and durability that you are seeking.

if it's the GoodYear F1 on the 190E u were complaining b4, it was the GSD2 not the GSD3....

Well, my tyre shop guy told me that the 2 best tyre manufacturers (in terms of quality of the tyres produced) are michelin and bridgestone.

So i heartily reccommend any tyre from those manufacturers. Especially the S0-3s (which i know you aren't asking about, but what the hell).

F1 GS-D3 beats Bridgestones S-03 and Michelin Pilot Sport and Pirelli P-zero rosso, in the wet, according to Autocar Asean Edition.

Worried about noise, put in sound proofing.

I am using 235/45/17 Dunlop Direnza DZ101 for my E34. I hv no complaint abt the tires so far. Better than SP 9000 (which is a tad soft).

get the GS-D3 it the best all rounder
me tested so-3,,,finish in 9 months....

but get only the GS-D3 made in GERMANY

joe,

the GS-D3 Germany is hard to find now. Shucks. I need a pair.
A tyre shop owner told me the there aren't any more "Made in Germany" F1 GS-D3 being brought into Malaysia. All are now made in Thailand. I think the Made in Thailand GYs are a little bit harder and should wear a little bit longer than the Made in Germany ones. However, harder compounds should mean less grip in the dry.

Just check with Goodyear dealer in Jln Kapar 2 days ago. GY GSD3 made in Germany size 215/45/17 going for RM370-380 per pc. They still have stock. They are just few meters away from kedai papan.

Maybe you can try Yokohama ES or the Advan ones?

Also, Toyo is made in Japan. Imported. Not that expensive. Around your price range. Maybe you can try it. I am using Toyo and I must say, they are quite good, dry or wet. Performance wise, responsive, I think.

But, I guess it is up to the user.

Also give the Yokohama C Drive consideration...prices for 225 x 45 x 17 about RM495.00

soft ride and above average performance for the money...quiet as well.

regards

Am using Continental Sports Contact II.

Excellent in dry.

DANGEROUS in wet (but therefore more fun!)

you're the man..... ;)

guess you're having fun in the wet.... Guess what???? better if you got a LSD.... more fun than you'll ever imagine..... and in a way safer...

YEah,

the first time it happened, it had just rained slightly, I was not prepared for any drama. Was slightly rushing for a meeting, taking a gently curving overhead pass near the Parliment, when all hell broke loose behind me!

Luckily, experience, performance driving training, and INSTINCT took over, and I countered in time to catch the tail before it slammed into the barrier... sheesh!!

LSD - been looking into that.

Asked around, got informal quote of about RM2k.

Quite expensive... any other suggestions?

ehoe, try yoko's or toyo's.... they are quite good.. the yoko's are good in the dry and in the wet ( about 180km/h in a heavy downpour) but in for any tyre you put for your e34, they will last you for 10 months.. the car is very heavy... if you think of using goodyear GSD3 forget it.. at 200km/h the front's wanders off..

regards.
