From my observation, most of the high viscosity gum will most probably penetrate the very thin fabric. If you use a UHU Stick type gum, it will do the job temporarily but the fabric will fall off fast.Another thing is that the replacement fabric got to have the appropriate thickness else the centre cover strip would not fit back.I enclosed a picture of the finished product using a thicker fabric. Also the fabric are wrap around (fold in) so that it will be more lasting. Trade off is the centre strip cannot be installed back and the torx screws will be exposed. It is not so easy as tot earlier......
Just want to share a bit on my experience on the above. I just done a re-wrap on my A-pillar.Procedures as follows:1. Ply open the centre cover strip with the original "airbag" word on it and expose 3 torx screws.2. Unlock all screws and ply open the whole plastic A-pillar panel.Apparently, the curtain airbag inflation route is not from the centre narrow plastic strip cover and I would guess that the whole plastic will break at the torx scres pivot point during emergency airbag inflation.Based on observation, the original plastic A-pillar panel together with the centre cover strip are first put on some gum and soak into some fabric dust (to give it a slightly spongily feel) and a layer of thin fabric is further laminated on it.In order to do a proper re-wrap using the similar to original thin fabric, one got to be very careful to use the appropriate gum.
