When the power steering pump is failing, you will feel that the heavy load on the steering when you turn it at low speed. It will not produce noise when the wheel is turn. When you turn the wheel and there is a "whrilling" sound, it means that the ATF oil is low. check the ATF oil at the reservoir. If the oil level is low, that means there is leak somewhere in the steering column. The leak is cause by worn out oil seal. Some people says can repair but some people say not advisable to repair but to change it.
