The engine block build up is done. Waiting for the engine head from the foundry. The engine head needs to be repaired and welded. Target to complete and start the engine on Thursday so that I can be at the rain forest gathering on Friday in Bandar Sunway.... hopefully.

The water outlet for this block is no longer smooth and rough. Probably due to no coolant or extended coolant usage. We did some brushing and cleaning to smoothen the surface. When we drained the radiator, there was no coolant at all.

This is probably the dirtiest engine I have ever worked on... washed my hands with grease remover twice and the dirt was still there.

As for the rain forest... I see first la... If I go, you have to take me to the forest la, if not, tak worth travel down. :wink:

As for the wife, I send her to IKEA... settle...

One question? Why overhaul? Got big problem with the engine? Mileage? How about gear box?

the car needed to be overhauled as the valve seals have gave way. White smoke and sometimes excessive black smoke like a bus when speeding. The car also lost its power. Basically a Waja Three 16 can simply makan this car. Owner had to top up the engine oil regularly. As you can see from the picture, the engine is so dirty as it was leaking badly. The Gear box had been serviced last year as it was showing signs of going to kaput anytime but the owner was hesitant to do the engine at that time.

some more pictures. the engine head. Due inefficient cooling system, as I mention no coolant or extended coolant usage or improper coolant used, the head had a few critical rust spots. We sent this thing to foundry and they had picked out the rust and put a chemical to hardened it. Then they welded the spots and had to polish the head surface again. Focus on the areas marked with red squares or rounds. So guys, use BMW coolant and change at recommended regular intervals.

Water dunno la... BWT definitely.. :stupid:

The radiator .... no wonder the engine head was damaged and the car had an inefficient cooling system. We sent the radiator for servicing, but it can't be serviced coz it was too bad.

So, let's change our water / coolant per the advised schedule so that our engines are cooled at the the recommended level.
